A Political Wife’s Influence on an Issue
New York Times ^ | Sept. 29, 2011 | Susan Saulny

Four years after Gov. Rick Perry issued an executive order that would have made Texas the first state to require that sixth-grade girls be vaccinated against a sexually transmitted disease linked to cervical cancer, its genesis remains a mystery. Opponents, including Representative Michele Bachmann, suggest the governor was influenced by close ties to lobbyists for the vaccine maker, Merck, or donations from the drug compan

FROM THE TIMES ARTICLE: Anita Perry is described as "warm and compassionate." She is a contract employee at the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault, where she participates in fund-raising and development work.

============================================

Earlier news reports say Anita Perry's $60,000-a-year salary at the Austin "nonprofit" "Texas Association Against Sexual Assault" comes indirectly from Gov. Perry's political donors, state contractors and companies that do business with the state or have issues before the Legislature.

Of 37 major donors during Anita Perry's tenure as fundraiser, ONLY three have NO ties to the governor or state business.

Anita Perry is paid from the "nonprofit" money pool that includes political contributions. TAAS also receives grants from state agencies........AND the governor's office.

Donating to the TAASA seems to be another way Rick Perry dreamed up for those with an interest in state government to influence Gov Perry.

Non-profits are notorious money-laundering vehicles. State grants to a "non-profits" could be easily laundered especially w/ a tight-lipped family member at the helm.

No, perry said he time traveled into the future and had a woman lobby him, then he time traveled into the past and signed the decree. If he had traveled a little more into the future he could have read how bad he was mucking up. He should have trusted in his magic 8 ball, like he did on hugging illegals.

Have you also conducted similar inquiries into leftist schemes of this nature?

Anita Perry is described as "warm and compassionate."

Correct. She certainly was when she nursed my grandfather before he died. I have seen some attempts by "journalists" to criticise her because she does not smile enough. (that was a transplant "journalist" not a native) If you want a fight, just say something bad about Anita in front of my father. He is almost 86 but you might just make his day and ruin yours for that.

I live 15 miles from Rick Perry's parents. Have never met Rick (he is a few years younger than I) but have met his parents. Both of our families have lived/farmed in Haskell county since the late 1880's.

Rick is not perfect and has taken some boneheaded positions before, but the Perry haters here are off base.

I swear, I’d support Ron Paul and even that Democrat twit Huntsman ahead of stupid, corrupt and dishonest Perry at this point.

Have I conducted similar inquiries into similar leftist schemes?.........

Yes, I have. Many, many, many times. Here's how lefties scam using "non-profits":

SCAM-A-RAMA NUMBER ONE Morris Seligman Dees, Jr. is co-founder and chief trial counsel for the ultra-left, tax-exempt Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

Dees was one of the principal architects of an innovative strategy of using civil lawsuits to secure a court judgment for money damages against an organization for a wrongful act and then used the courts to seize its assets (money, land, buildings, other property) to pay the SPLC judgment. SPLC'S modus operandi is strikingly similar to the Milberg Weiss law firm's "class action" scam. L/E needs to determine whether SPLC used collusion and conspiracy to extort monies.

For example, SPLC officers may have committed government fraud and may have integrated schemes such as:

(a) misusing reserve accounts, (b) concealing losses, (c) inflating asset values and (d) improperly accounting for transactions, as well as (e) diverting monies into reserve accounts, (f) improperly shifting govt funding to other projects to hide illegal payments, (g) engaging in money laundering schemes, (h) evading IRS, FEC, and US banking laws, and (i) engaging in illegal conversions)

FBI TIP PAGE http://tips.fbi.gov/ (you may remain anonymous)

IRS TOLL-FREE 1-800-829-0433 Tax evasion goes hand in hand with money-laundering. The IRS should relentlessly determine if all income was reported and whether all relevant taxes were paid (stolen money is taxable).

========================================

SCAM-A-RAMA NUMBER TWO ----ANIMAL RIGHTS SHAKEDOWN EXPOSED America's farmers, ranchers, hunters, fishermen, research scientists, fashion designers, and restaurateurs have seen for decades how the animal rights movement is like a mobbed-up shakedown racket.

A Federal judge ruled "animal rights defendants" collaborated to bribe a "barn helper" w/ $190,000 in exchange for his impeached testimony.

A "nonprofit charity"---called the Wildlife Advocacy Project----was used to funnel the bribe money from a law firm to the bribed plaintiff.

I have mixed emotions on this.

I think it is a bad idea and wrong to force mandatory vaccines on 16 year old girls for HPV virus.

However, in some “at risk” demographic communities (ie inner city ghettos, and barrios), HPV is way past epidemic proportions, it's close to 80% and it's breaking out of these high risk areas into the general public. There is, like herpes simplex virus, NO treatment for HPV and it causes cancer and many other serious medical conditions in women

This is a serious public health issue and as everyone knows it is hard to attack the problem from a abstinence strategy for any teenager, much less inner city where teen pregnancy rates are off the charts.

It is the Governor's job to deal with public health emergencies and this is a legitimate emerging health emergency. You may not agree with him, but Perry did take decisive action to try to deal with the situation in the only practical, pragmatic way available to him.

The real issue is that STDs in general are out of control in some of the inner city communities and especially the Black community.
Go look at the statistics and you will be stunned, I sure was.

Now that I am aware of this situation, I may suggest to my daughter( who is very responsible) that she consider this vaccine.

As the saying goes- A night with Venus, a lifetime with Mercury (Mercury was the only known way to slow the progress of Syphilis before effective drug treatments became available in the 20th century)

Good point-—”salary” does not include benefits, car/gas/maintenance, bonuses, state pensions, free travel and eats, expense account, credit card, office budget to spend at her disposal, salaries for staff?...etc etc etc.

Anita’s dad was our family doctor and she was a nurse in the Haskell hospital for a while. She is warm and compassionate and a real fire plug, like her dad!

$60,000 salary? I say that group is getting a bargain.

Anita Perry could make much more than this in the private sector. Did it ever occur to you that this is a worthwhile cause that she supports.

Imagine that, she makes less money than she could elsewhere for a worthwhile cause. She should be publicly flogged.

She would also get this in the private sector. You know this is land of opportunity, you can go into nursing and make this kind of money. It may give you a new perspective.

I would not appreciate Mrs. Perry deciding which vaccinations my kid was supposed to have any more than I appreciate Mrs. Obama deciding what my kids are allowed to eat.

The more I read about this couple and the more I see of them outside of the debates, the more I like them. Last night I watched Rick on Tim Scott’s town hall gathering. For an hour and ten minutes he took questions from the audience ranging from immigration to veterans to EPA to gun control and slam dunked every single one with a true conservative message. I challenge anyone who believes Perry is not a conservative to take the time and watch it. You can find it on Youtube. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that they (Rick & Anita) are getting a raw deal from the RE and the MSM.
