WE'RE GUILTY, DAMN IT! (Even Al Qaeda think Ahmadinejad and 9/11 Truthers are Insane)
Power Line ^ | John Hinderaker

Of all the conspiracy theories of modern times, trutherism must be the silliest. The idea that the U.S. government was behind the September 11 attacks, or acquiesced in them, is absurd on its face; and yet, a great many Democrats believe just that–or tell pollsters they do, anyway.

Apart from Democrats, most truthers are bitterly anti-American, certifiably insane, or both. One prominent truther is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Last week at the United Nations, he repeated the claim that the Bush administration was responsible for the terror attacks, to the outrage of al Qaeda. It is very weird for al Qaeda to be the voice of sanity, but that is happening here:

[T]he Yemen-based compiler of [al Qaeda's] Inspire magazine wrote that President Ahmadinejad had appeared “ridiculous” when he questioned the origins of the attack that killed almost 3,000 people.

“The Iranian government has professed on the tongue of its president Ahmadinejad that it does not believe that al Qaeda was behind 9/11 but rather, the US government,” it said. “So we may ask the question: why would Iran ascribe to such a ridiculous belief that stands in the face of all logic and evidence?”

Good question! The facts surrounding the September 11 attacks are known about as thoroughly as any human event can be, through the testimony of Khalid Sheikh Muhammad and many others. Are the millions of Democrats who say they are truthers embarrassed to be in the company of anti-American nutters like Ahmadinejad? So far, they have shown no sign of it.

It’s obvious Sarah Palin is the only person who could be behind 9/11.

After the 9/11 attack I was able to talk with a NY licensed architect with strong left wing sympathies about the conspiracy theory. He said the cause of the collapse of the buildings is that the internal girders are insullated against fire, but it is only rated to something like one or two hours. Then the heat makes the iron brittle, and you have the building collapse.

I should say the government did not aid her. It was only Sarah, Todd, Trig, Piper, Glen Rice, Jim Rice, Glen Campbell, and scruff the wonder pup.

I try and help the Truthers out by telling them that they will forever look stupid trying to convince everyone that, or example, burning jet fuel cannot cause harm to steel.

I tell them that Space Aliens committed 911. Why Space Aliens? Because Space Aliens have technology which cannot be explained. Therefore, anything is plausible if done using Space Alien technology.

Of course, you can explain that Karl Rove had direct contact with the Space Aliens.

al Qaeda isn’t thinking this one through all the way. Seems like they would want to point blame at the US government so as to instill as much discontent as possible.

Of course that is to be expected. They aren’t exactly the brightest bulbs in the chandelier.

< Truther >
Version 1: Al Qaeda is a CIA disinformation operation and doesn’t really exist. Inspire magazine is a propaganda tool of the US government.
Version 2: The Bush administration planned 9/11 with al Qaeda and let it happen.
Version 3: Al Qaeda is just a fringe group trying to be relevant by taking responsibility for something they never could really do.
Version 4....
< /truther>
This can go on ad infinitum limited only by the creativity of the imaginations of the conspiracy theorists.
