I was in town for some time alone and went to the club several times. The music was loud rock, the place dark, girls dancing in blue jeans cut off into ragged short shorts, the rest of their clothes ragged also. There wasn't much attention to decorum. There was a group of nurses whom I talked with and didn't like. They were a fast crowd. One night they were talking about driving down to Virginia Beach. They would be tired, of course, staying up all night, and I heard one of them say that she could take a couple of antihypnotic pills and would be fine to drive all the way; that was scary. The entire atmosphere was unwholesome and certainly not like anything I expected in a military officers' club.

Why do you ask?

The only time I was in an Officer's Club was 15 years ago for a friend's wedding, which was not sleazy in the least, so I had no context in which to imagine what you were talking about. I appreciate your having taken the time to describe the situation.

Like you, I dread what will happen to our straight soldiers in Political-Correctness Hell as the military becomes infected with "out" behaviors. I lived in a large city and worked in the arts, so I'm already aware of how bad that can be.
