Cornell Belcher: Cain's "Brainwashed" Remark Was "Racist, Bigoted"

Democratic strategist Cornell Belcher says there is a media "double-standard" over Herman Cain saying blacks have been "brainwashed." Belcher calls Mr. Cain a bigot and a racist and says this incident is a "teachable moment."

CORNELL BELCHER, DEMOCRATIC STRATEGIST: First of all, do you think you're going to invite me on the show and then I'm not going to talk about the ridiculousness of that statement? Two things. One is a great way to sort of get people on your side and win voters is to attack their intelligence.

So great job there. Really sensible, Herman Cain.

The second part here is, it's really a teachable moment. You know, if I came on your show, Anderson, and I said, all Jewish people are brainwashed, I probably wouldn't be invited back to CNN and I assure you the condemnation would be swift and it'd be powerful and be strong.

What Herman Cain said was a racist, bigoted statement and it should treated like a racist and bigoted person who makes those racist and bigoted statements.

You might just be a racist if:
• you think that 95%+ of blacks will vote for the democrat, that is not brainwashed.
• Whites voting for a republican is ok, even if the candidate is black.
• Clarence Thomas is authentically black, but Bill Clinton was not the first black president.
• You oppose planned parenthood even though they kills far more black babies than white
• Black unemployment could demonstrate a correlation of the breakdown of the black families, dropping out of school, a propensity to be involved in gangs or voting to be dependent on the state
• If you deny that Democrats called at the time republicans fought for emancipation
• If you deny that republicans who at the time called themselves democrats opposed the civil rights act
• Equality of opportunity must force force equality of results.
• You disagree with a black (democrat because a dark skinned republican is not black)
• If you think Tawana Brawley is guilty or think that the Duke lacrosse team was innocent or think that the Reverend Jackson's love child is cause to defrock - you might just be a racist.

Thinking of when Moses went back to free the Israelites. They wanted nothing to do with him, at first. God changed their mind. What a thought, at any given moment we might see God bring Cain to confront Zero and call down plagues. Herman Cain said he felt God saved him from Stage 4 cancer for a purpose. I do not doubt the possibility.

Interesting you would say that as my husband and I had this conversation the other night. I was saying my only concern about Cain was his history of cancer, but as I reflected on it, I thought about the excellent history show Michael Medved has on the evidence of Divine intervention in American history. There are so many instances where seeming miracles occurred for America to prevail. I think this is another one of those instances and agree with Mr. Cain that he was cured for a purpose.
