NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City police say about 500 protesters have been arrested after they swarmed the Brooklyn Bridge and shut down a lane of traffic for several hours.

Police say some demonstrators spilled onto the roadway Saturday night after being told to stay on the pedestrian pathway. They face disorderly conduct and other charges. The lane has since reopened.

Occupy Wall Street demonstrators are railing against corporate greed, global warming and social inequality, among other grievances.

The group has been camped near the Financial District for two weeks and clashed with police on earlier occasions.

Earlier Saturday, two other marches went over the bridge without problems.

Why didn’t Mayor Broomberg sweep them off the Bridge?

The spirit of the protest is against Wall Street, big banks running the country, and the federal reserve. In that sense, I agree with the protesters. The tea party was born out of TARP under the same principles. Where they lose credibility is when they throw in the commie causes, but we can definitely tap into some common ground so long as Romney isn’t our nominee.

Evidently, each of the 500 came to claim possession having previously purchased the bridge for cold cash.

These people are the same vermin that show up for all the loony leftwing rallies. They represent nothing but incoherent ignorance, laziness and an envy of other peoples success. As usual, this prolonged dirt bath of a protest is filled with the usual suspects from all range of victim groups and socialist causes. Nothing will come of their "seizure" of some park near Wall Street, and blocking traffic on the bridge only pisses people off at these wanna-be hippies.

They should know by now that when Code Pink and the Free Mumia gang show up, their protest will generate into so many goofy causes no one will pay attention. Leftists throw a street fair, and think it's a protest - and wonder why no one pays attention to them.

I have several of these people as Facebook friends. They are not conservatives, but they are certainly not Soros/Van Jones/Obama allies either.

You don’t need a permit in NYC. Only for sound, which they don’t have.

It’s pretty cold tonight and supposed to get colder. We soon won’t be hearing about them any more. Bleeding-hearts will have to send their pizza and fried chicken somewhere else.

You agree with them how exactly? What are they protesting that you find common cause with? These are the same old leftists that turn out to protest capitalism and a variety of goofy causes every chance they get.

The tea party was born out of TARP under the same principles.

No, the Tea Party would have opposed bailing out banks, these idiots oppose banks in general. The Tea Party focuses its ire on bad government policy, these protesting vermin want bigger government instead of private business and banks. Big difference.

Where they lose credibility is when they throw in the commie causes, but we can definitely tap into some common ground so long as Romney isn’t our nominee.

No we can't. There is absolutely no common cause between the Tea Party/movements conservatives and these scum stinking up Zuccotti Park. We don't oppose capitalism, we want MORE of it. We don't oppose banks, we want the government to let them fail and be absorbed by better banks that are successful. Where this occupywallstreet nonsense is concerned, there is absolutely nothing of value about the cause or the rent-a-mob protesters are concerned.

This nonsense will only get worse as it becomes apparent that Zero is done.

They will be mad and frustrated and just start going insane.

Buy some popcorn..... from a neighborhood Cub Scout.

I'm sorry to hear that. Suggest you screen your Facebook friends a little more carefully.

They are not conservatives, but they are certainly not Soros/Van Jones/Obama allies either.

The bulk of these idiots probably couldn't even understand what Soros and Van Jones stood for even if they tried to explain it to them. These are the same meatheads that turn out to anti-war and anti-capitalist rallies on a regular basis. At heart, they are lazy, selfish people who envy other people's success and would rather hang out for a street party instead of actually applying themselves and working hard.

Unfortunately these dumbasses are right about the banks except not about th cause

They think MORE GOVERNMENT will fix it when government WAS he problem - these banks exist in the environment they are given

The banks were forced to make bad loans by the government. Then tey got into bed with the big banks to support obama and the bailout. Only a givernment this big can be this corrupt

While it is true that Wall street banks have Raped this country by committing fraud, and breaking laws...and getting away with it all. These people are not protesting that. They have a totally screwy agenda that originates from a socialist and leftist agenda. They want to turn it around so that they are the takers.
