WASHINGTON, Libya (AFP) — Senator John McCain called Sunday for urgent US medical aid to help thousands wounded in Libya, amid a growing humanitarian crisis as revolutionary forces battle the final vestiges of the Moamer Kadhafi regime.
"They've got thousands and thousands of wounded. They say that they've lost 25,000 people killed, 3,000 have been maimed, 60,000 injured. That's their government figures," McCain told CBS television's "Face the Nation" program.
"We should be helping them," said the influential US lawmaker, a Vietnam War aviator and prominent voice on US military matters who also was the Republican Party's losing 2008 presidential candidate.

Let Sarkozy pay the tab. This was mostly his idea. Or maybe Obama, McCain, and the guys who supported our getting into this slaughter. The least they could do is donate their campaign funds.
We haven’t got funds to take care of our own, let alone other people around the world. If we did send money, it would be money borrowed from the Chinese, why not have China supply the aid directly?
To answer my own question, China would expect to get repaid, either directly in cash, or by taking Libyan oil as repayment. And every drop of oil taken by the Chinese is that much oil denied to Europe and other consumers in Africa and the surrounding region.

Let me guess, you’re a Ron Paul supporter, right? Sorry, foreign policy doesn’t work like that. But I don’t think we should be sending aid to Libya. Our senators and representatives shouldn’t even be going there. Who are these people? We don’t know for certain, but we do know that some of the new government has links to terrorists organizations.
