"Obama Support Falls to 42%" (Japan's NHK TV-My Translation) [Herman Cain's Rise Mentioned]
NHK National TV, Japan (in Japanese) ^ | 5 October 2011 | AmericanInTokyo

Posted on 10/04/2011 7:22:33 PM PDT by AmericanInTokyo

Japanese NHK TV, the top national network (government run broadcast) ran a top news story with two dimensions, and the text has appeared (in Japanese) on its website. Go to link to see. Both Obama and Cain are mentioned in this news report, updating the Japanese people on the falling fortunes of the former and the rising phenomenon of the latter at this time.

TOPICS: Foreign Affairs; Front Page News; News/Current Events; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: 2012; abc; abcpolls; cain; cainrising; election; gop; hermancain; japan; nhk; nomination; obama; obamafail; perry; romney
My rough summary translation synopsis, from Japanese original to English:

オバマ大統領 支持率42% (Obama Support to 42%)

--In a recent reputable poll in the USA, President Obama's national support has fallen to its lowest point since he took office.

--When asked "will he be reelected in November 2012?", the positive answer by Americans only rose to 37%. This shows the decline of Mr. Obama's support.

--American TV network ABC conducted the poll of 1000 people. Only 42% said they support Obama, but 54% said they were opposed to him. This is his lowest rating ever.

--When it comes to the Republican race to challenge Obama, a drop was seen in comparision with previous polling, for Texas Governor Rick Perry what with his slip of the tongue comment in the debate about providing social services' support.

--Mr. Romney now sits at the top of the GOP field.

--However, what is of interest is the rise in support of former pizza chain company magnate Herman Cain, a black man, from the US southern state of Georgia, who has seen his poll numbers move up quickly. This shows the volality of the race on the Republican side as they move to choose their nominee.

(End of translation)

ただ、ここにきて、南部ジョージア州出身の黒人で、ピザのチェーン店を経営していたケイン氏も急速に支持を伸ばしており、共和党の候補者選びは混戦の様相を見せています.

Go Herman ケイン!

He (Cain) is barely known here.

Having said that, by and large, Obama is still treated somewhat as a Rock Star and a Messiah in Japan (as presented to the Japanese through most of their news sources), although that has trailed off dramatically over four years. Kind of like Gorbachev. Popular overseas but disliked immensely within Russia where he was known the best. However, Japanese are in fact getting the message slowly but surely that Obama is an "empty suit" in well over his neck...most of them picked it up right away from that foolish, amateurish, awkward 75degree bow before their Emperor, and also Obama senior WH staff falling asleep or yawning in important high level bilateral meetings in Tokyo when Obama was here about two years ago, because of jetlag or boredom, despite probably copious amounts of coffee being offered by gracious yet insulted Japanese hosts. Japanese people (taken as a larger culture) know and sense one thing immediately: weakness in a person. They sensed strength in this man years ago when that was what they were told by the US MSM which they just mimicked--and all through the inaugural hoopla and all that crap, but now by and large here in late 2011 they know THE TRUTH.

Empty suit weakening America on a daily basis.

What the poll really reports is that 42% are just as obstinate and dumb as a fence pole.

If they are factoring in illegal aliens in the poll, which they probably do, I can buy it, that it is that high. I am sure though it is probably more like mid-30s support for Obongo, the real die hard Marxists and (black)pre-disposed racists out there.

He can’t win against Hillary. He can win against Obama. But I think we are really at the point where Sarah Palin can win against anyone...if only she is decisive. We shall see.

They aren’t stupid. They know they don’t have to do anything and they can still get money from the govt.

1000 people... not even adults... and obama has been falling to 42% for the last year... every poll in the last year... obama falling to 42%... how does one fall and not drop?

Good question. And the only conclusion I can reach is that 42% of my fellow Americans are, at their core, idiots, grifters or both.

Could be... or could be these polls this early on are meant to shape our opinions... not report on them.

for Texas Governor Rick Perry what with his slip of the tongue comment in the debate about providing social services' support.

Providing social services support - is NHK confusing calling SS a Ponzi scheme with in-state tuition for illegals? Maybe just translating an American news wire and not wanting to get into detail on illegal immigration?

Yeah, that puzzled me too, and I think that’s what it must be. Japan doesn’t have nearly the illegal alien problem that the USA has, and so I think they abbreviated the situation to some concept that the J’s could relate to better —”social services”.

Yeah that got me, too.
