We “Do Not Consider Perry a Factor… We Know Who it is Who Will be Our Nominee”

Those words were spoken today by Georgette Mosbacher, RNC Finance Co-Chair and huge GOP fundraiser, after Chris Christie’s announcement. The “we” is all the big bundlers, fundraisers, and money folks who have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for the field to be set — and that quote represents the coalescing around Mitt Romney that is expected to happen rather quickly now. Mosbacher went on to say:

“I think tomorrow, we’ll be contacting one another and probably put something together with Romney… And I would say that the race is now Romney and Obama. Quite frankly, the enthusiasm wasn’t there at the outset. He’s less conservative than a lot of us would like. However, our first and foremost goal is to defeat Obama. And we do believe Romney, in terms of independents, will be a strong candidate. We will coalesce behind him now… the time has come to get behind him… Tomorrow I’ll be on the phone all day. Quite frankly, it’ll be easier, because now we know who it is who will be our nominee. So we will pull our Rolodexes out and get to work.”

Fellow bundler and sideline-sitter John Catsimatidis added, “I’m going to go with Mitt Romney. I don’t think Perry has it in him to do it. He’s a lot better than Sarah Palin, but not a lot lot better.”

Ouch.

In related news, Romney also scored another major fundraiser from the Draft Christie movement: Ken Langone. Langone is the founder of Home Depot and is described as a “titan” in the political money scene. He backed Rudy Giuliani in 2008, helping Giuliani out raise the other candidates. There is evidence that a great deal of the money that had sat on the sidelines so far in this race will now fall into Romney’s coffers.

Rick Perry, for his part, got the endorsement of another Draft Christie member: Gary Kirke, a west Iowa investor and casino owner who had also been sitting on the sidelines until this afternoon.

I would have to consider not voting if GOP settles for Romney. Romney is no better than Bush and looks where that took the country.

Here’s the problem. We don’t know if it’s going to be Perry, Cain or even a surprise last minute appearance by Palin. They however do know they can count one just one guy, Romney.

But you have to support whom it is, not whom you’d like it to be.

And you try to make it the best of what you have, in this case, for me at least, Perry or Cain.

Gov. Perry has appeal to so many of the groups the Left has divided us into, that he's the one that the Democrats fear the most.

The lawyers and unions have painted a big bulls eye on his back and are raising money like nobody's business to take him out (and the MSM is do their damnedest to assist).

The Left knows they're going to need every dime to get Obama 4 more years and if Perry gets in they're going to have to fight like hell [$$$$$$] to win. And that will take money away from the rest of the Democrat field. They'll be defending states and seats that normally would be safe.

If this "racist rock" crap can be thrown in their face, as it should be by honest Americans, future race-baiting (and you know it is coming -- and it is being tied to the Tea Party) will not have the punch that they hope it will have.

Romney would chew up and spit out Perry or Cain without the least bit of trouble. The only one who has the capability to stop him is Palin—and I expect she’ll be in the race soon enough.

She has timed it perfectly despite all the media and Establishment’s pressure to get in earlier.

They’d rather it be Obama for another four years, then Jeb or some other RINO in 2016, over an actual reformer who would break their cushy crony capitalist, big government deals and lifestyle.

They almost consider it a gentleman’s agreement that the presidency be traded back and forth between parties every eight years, though of course the street-fighter Democrats don’t see it that way.

That’s the thing these Party hacks don’t consider. Despite Obama’s ‘billion’ dollar war chest, even the MSM thinks he’s gonna lose. WHY??? Because despite all those cubic dollar Ad buys/MSM propaganda broadcasts, no one is buying the BS. Their value in the face of economic/social/electoral reality is greatly diminished.

Mittens/GOP establishment has the same ‘exact’ issue without nearly the cash of Obama. As soon as they stop polling the beltway (due to it not matching the ‘man on the street’ attitudes), we are going to see a very different picture emerge. 2012 is going to be 2010 on ‘Roids for anti establishment types. And that leaves only one guy currently running and one woman currently not.

Mitt Romney, nor Rick Perry can BUY enough conservatives to get the job. Riddle me this FreeRepublic fans... If the one thing that the establishment relies on, money, has less clout than it used to, why is that and taken to a critically thought out conclusion, what does it mean/who does that then favor?

Support two. The best, in your view, getting the greater of the support and then absolute and constant support of the nominee.

For example, in my case if I could, if I could afford three hundred dollars in total, I’d budget 150 dollars for during the primaries, with 100 going towards Cain and 50 towards Perry. Whomever of the two gets the nomination, if one of the two did, would get the remaining 150 dollars.

If as many people did that, you wouldn’t have to worry about the corporate dollars taking over.

But she’ll be in soon enough. I just hope she runs a fantastic campaign as, by all counts, she did for every race she was in in Alaska.

Cute. I KNOW Sarah Palin has been a target. I posted (as I'm sure you know) articles and vanity posts about her for years. But I believe Gov. Rick Perry is a better choice and why I've been doggedly vetting him here on FR.

There’s a reason for the rocket-like rise of Cain.

He ain’t so easy to beat as you think.

All indications at this point is that Palin has chosen not to run, because she doesn’t even have anything up and running as of yet.

Unless there are things happening under the radar that nobody knows about, she’s choosing to sit out the race.
