U.S. 'Paid a Price' on Egypt
The Daily Beast ^ | 10/5/2011 | Eli Lake

In a blunt assessment, President Obama’s first national security adviser told a private audience this week that there is a “chasm” between the United States and its Gulf Arab allies that has yet to heal since the White House very publicly ushered Egypt’s president out of power in February.

Retired Marine Gen. James Jones, who served as national security adviser in 2009-10, told a private meeting at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that the United States’ Persian Gulf allies interpret the president’s handling of the Egyptian revolution as a sign that Washington will dump their monarchies or governments if enough demonstrators take to their streets, according to a recording of the speech reviewed by The Daily Beast.

“We have paid a price,” Jones said of the decision to call for Hosni Mubarak’s ouster. “Our policy with regard to Mubarak as interpreted by some of our closest Arab allies in the Gulf has not gone over well.”

“In their interpretation of our dumping President Mubarak very hastily, [it] answered the question of what we would be likely to do if that happened in their countries. So there is a chasm there that somehow has to be bridged,” he added.

What's all this talk about undermining allies and creating regional instability that threatens vital US interests?

That Mubarak had to go under the bus. He just didn't understand how great Facebook is.

No kidding, and the real bill for Egypt and Libya will be paid over the next twenty years, when the lid blows off. This will be the direct result of incompetence of Britain, France and obummer and NATO.

We paid a great price, but one that should begin helping the country 13 months from now — we found out that the USA has no leader!

Incompetence by Obama or a planned, deliberate campaign to assist the formation of the Grater Caliphate by removing recalcitrant dictators who had reached an accommodation with Israel and the West?

So that’s a big part of your responsibility, is to test things out. Take risks. Try new things. Work hard. Don’t be embarrassed if you’re not good at something right away. You’re not supposed to be good at everything right away. That’s why you’re in school President. The idea, though, is, is that you keep on expanding your horizons and your sense of possibility. Now is the time for you to do that. And those are also, by the way, the things that will make school being President more fun.

Obama has REALLY broken the Middle East. He forever OWNS the mess he has created. We will be the ones who have to clean it up , of course.

Obama hates Israel and sides with the arab countries that want to wipe her off the map. Mubarak had to go... to achieve Obama’s goal.

There should be NO MORE negotiations until Jews are welcomed and protected in EVERY arab country! The fact that we are in discussions with a bunch of racists (who have holy cities that non-muslims aren’t even allowed to visit), just makes us look stupid. Everywhere Muslims migrate they bring their rabid hatred of Jewish/Christian people. Slam the door on Muslim immigration, they’re spreading strife all over the world!

Yes

even though the potus changes every 4 years the CIA and US State Department (HILLARY) are now also damaged goods

The image of a stroked-out bedridden Mubarak in a cage in front of an islamist kangaroo court does not sit well with other regimes who may have said one thing publlcy but done another, in providing us (and ISRAEL) many “favors” over the years

I'm sure it hasn't escaped this administration that those regimes now feeling threatened have accommodate the US and Israel in the past.

The plain fact is this administration seeks to ally itself with our enemies.
