Meanwhile, groggy demonstrators found their way to the makeshift kitchen in the middle of the park, where food donated by sympathizers - much of it vegan - was being given out. After nearly three weeks of the "occupation" -- which began as a relatively small protest in response to a call from anti-consumerist magazine Adbusters -- a semi-functioning society has sprung up.
Barred by police from using megaphones, protesters created a structure whereby whoever is speaking says his piece, and then the rest of the crowd repeats it, a call-and-response system that ensures the words echo through the park. They use the system at a daily "general assembly" to make collective decisions for a leadership movement on topics like whether they should invest in cheap sleeping bags for the new arrivals. For bathrooms, they head to the nearby McDonalds; for wireless service, some stand outside the Starbucks down the street.

Um, why aren’t these kids either working, or in CLASS? You know, where they have to take out exhorbitant loans that they “can never pay back”. And honestly, why don’t they go back to their Manhattan apartments at night? These are LOCALS, they didn’t walk there from Indiana. I rarely hate anyone, but I absolutely despise these people. They are lily-white, rich children of people who actually produce the wealth that allows them to protest how “unfair” everything is. When the going gets tough, they are going to be the first ones to call evil capitalist Daddy for rent money.
I was in college in the early sixties, but didn’t participate in the ‘protest marches’ ... my place on the college Chess Team precluded mixing with the riff raff hippy types. The chicks that wanted to participate in ‘protests’ used it to get turned on and find a ‘turned on’ male with whom to work off their zeal. I suspect you get my drift. Protest marches were ‘foreplay’ for some of the less attractive females and more scummy males.

But the "occupiers" may look on this as equivalent to tree sitting, and dig in.
On the positive side, McDonald's may get tired of supplying a MacBathroom for the whole crowd. That could have a dispersant effect.

McDonalds might not have a problem with this. I have a pretty good idea that these dopes are not just ducking into Micky D's for a potty break. They are not all vegans and I rather doubt most of them are sustaining nourishment from Wheat Germ and Carrot salads. Something tells me that quite a few Double Quarter Pounders with Cheese are being sold to them.

reminds me of Earth Day here in Prescott, AZ. Our band played at City Hall and later discovered that some “commie earther” (more than one, I’m sure) painted the public bathroom walls with their own feces.
Yeah, this “let us use it for free” meme sure works well with them. I cannot imagine what they’re doing to that McDonalds.

From what I heard, people from out of state are calling in and having food delivered to the protesters. I wonder if McDonalds will deliver those Happy Meals?
