GOP Establishment Now Coalescing Around Romney?
Pajamas Media ^ | Bryan Preston

Posted on 10/06/2011 9:24:34 AM PDT by McGruff

Following Governor Christie’s announcement on Tuesday top GOP official and bundler Gerogette Mosbacher told reporters, “We do not consider Perry a factor… We know who will be our nominee.” Race for 2012 reported:

Those words were spoken today by Georgette Mosbacher, RNC Finance Co-Chair and huge GOP fundraiser, after Chris Christie’s announcement. The “we” is all the big bundlers, fundraisers, and money folks who have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for the field to be set — and that quote represents the coalescing around Mitt Romney that is expected to happen rather quickly now. Mosbacher went on to say:

“I think tomorrow, we’ll be contacting one another and probably put something together with Romney… And I would say that the race is now Romney and Obama. Quite frankly, the enthusiasm wasn’t there at the outset. He’s less conservative than a lot of us would like. However, our first and foremost goal is to defeat Obama. And we do believe Romney, in terms of independents, will be a strong candidate. We will coalesce behind him now… the time has come to get behind him… Tomorrow I’ll be on the phone all day. Quite frankly, it’ll be easier, because now we know who it is who will be our nominee. So we will pull our Rolodexes out and get to work.”

The 'establishment' might be going to Romney, but it is my opinion that conservatives will not ... we have more votes than the 'establishment'.

I saw Brit Hume and C. Krauthammer opining on the rise of Herman Cain in the polls. As much as I admire both of those guys, it is crystal clear that they don't get it. Neither does Bill O'Reilly.

It is my hope that they are left slack-jawed when Cain continues to rise.

Perry is pro-illegal conservative who will be crushed and embarrassed in debates and State Media interviews.

You can keep repeating it, but it does not make it true. It only makes it propaganda.

Demint would be fine, but as Cain’s VP. We should oppose Romney with every fiber of our being, as he’s barely better than Obama.

NO,, the traitors are the GOP establishment types who gave us Murkowski, who gave us Scozzafava, who froze out Rand Paul, who roadblocked and hurt Sarah every single way they knew how.
It’s funny to watch you get mad. Somehow you seem to claim my vote as rightfully belonging to ANY repub, like it is the property of the GOP. Yet, you recognize no similar GOP responsibility to get behind a wildly popular conservative who can a stadium. LOL

If someone comes into the room and shoots your friend, they don’t get to be your new friend by pointing out that your old buddy is dead now. The GOP stopped Palin,, that makes the GOP establishment the traitors. It’s like that for me,,,

Looks like they’re going to give a really big party, but no one will come.
Why can’t they wait for the primaries and see what the people will do before shoveling out the cash? Don’t they know that betting on romney is a loser?
Now if we get a conservative, we will also have conservative activists running the ground game. If we have a rino, there won’t be a ground game because there are no moderate activists.

I will. I will vote for him if he is the nominee. I will need a couple of Bonines (for the nausea) and five fingers of Old Overholt to reduce my inhibitions.

We cannot let that boob that currently infests the Whitehouse win. I don’t want to spend my sunset years turning over logs for the grubs underneath.

Work hard on the down ticket offices, federal, state and local.

Romney won’t win the Republican nomination. Just like last time around, he will flat line with respectable support, but not enough to push him over the top. Insiders know it, and that is why they have tried to run a different RINO. This time we have Mr. Cain, not McCain, and this time we will win.

Keep in mind this fight isn’t just about the White House. In all my years I’ve never seen this kind of an opportunity to elect conservatives. Don’t let the threat of Romney suck the energy out of our fight.

If we get Romney, the Republican party is finished. We WILL fracture. And it won’t matter at that point, because there will be no viable presidential choice for conservatives.

Well, if Romney gets it, we’v had it either way! Read “The Illuminati, Fact and Fiction’, by Mark Dice. Mormonism is a secret society, too! Don’t you suppose that’s why the Malibu Ken doll has had the lead all along?

In “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” Douglas Adams wryly observed that the only people that could be trusted with political power were the people that did not want it.
Ironically, Sarah Palin’s decision serves to prove that she is the person for the job.

Honestly, where is the fire in this sad lot of Republican candidates?

I respect her decision and have often wondered if it was fair to expect anyone to suffer the vicious attacks on their family that she has.

Still, it is only human to look to a leader to point the way and I just don’t see any other that inspires like her and I can’t see her as a cheerleader endorsing other candidates. She needs to be out on the field, leading the charge, to be effective.

“The stupid party strikes again.”

0bama and the dims have set the perfect trap for the stupid party. By using open primaries and the state-run media the dims will ensure that Myth is the stupid party nominee. The dims know that most voters do not pay attention to the election until October of 2012. The October Surprise will be an all out total media blitz of the bizzaro-world beliefs of Mormonism. The independents who decide elections will recoil in horror and either stay home or vote for zero. This could only happen when our two major political parties are the stupid party and the evil party.

This is one of the best discussion threads I've come across here in a while. Keep it up.

Personally I think the presidential race is Mitt's. The conservatives are destroying each other and not him. The best we can do is to fight for house and senate republicans (Tea Party ones). Don't donate to the RNC. Donate to the candidates directly.
