Al Davis, whose iron-fisted reign over the Raiders for practically their entire existence led to three Super Bowl titles and made the silver-and-black franchise a symbol of renegade toughness, died Saturday. He was 82.

In the last 20 years it was painful to see how the game had passed him by and he wouldn’t let go.
But he was always a character and I never heard of him intentionally saying anything bad about anyone or doing anything to anyone.
RIP Al — you’ll always be an important part of the NFL. I am sure in the post-life you will just win, baby.
Proof he was the Sith!!
Put down the crack pipe. Davis has a long history of screwing people.
Davis did what was best for Davis. That is different that screwing people for the fun of it or for spite.
Davis was a POS and dismissing his great pleasure in screwing people over is very telling about what type of person you are.
I used to enjoy watching the Raiders play back in the 70s. Kenny Stabler, Jack Tatum and other assorted thugs.
Let me guess. He killed your puppies and made you watch.
Or you still are upset about the Marcus Allen doghouse...
When the Raiders first moved to L.Al., they stayed at the Marina del Rey Oakwood. It just so happened I was there and one night they took over the clubhouse. I stuck my head in and they invited me in. I partied all night with Davis, Plunkett, Alzado (rest his soul), Guy, Branch, and many of the classic players of the last great team the Raiders had. Not many of the prior teams’ players were there (probably b/c of the move).
Fun night.
Vader - Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!
We’re going to hear a lot of “We need to win this one for Big Al tomorrow!!!”
Houston may get screwed Sunday...
The media sports hacks will certainly be on the Oakland side of the sympathy trail...
But if Houston wins tomorrow, we will be looked upon with disgust for not “giving” a win out of sympathy for the death of Al Davis...We’ll be the hated team in the whole league...
LOL! Well, there you have it.
Sounds like a blast. That’s a memory that’ll last you.
JUST WIN BABY !!!! I was 9 months old when I first heard those words . RIP , BABY
Sometimes the owner holds a team back. I’m reminded of the Blackhawks owner dying, crazy old bastard wouldn’t allow the games on TV.
Sad thing to say because of his illustrious past but the Raiders will improve because of this. Senility had set in.
