Before becoming President, Barak Obama promised to bankrupt coal companies. As President, he has tried various strategies to force Americans to use less coal. After failing to pass a national energy tax (cap-and-trade), the President vowed to continue his attack on coal stating, there is “more than one way to skin a cat.”
Currently, EPA is leading the Obama administration’s assault on coal with a number of new regulations. Two of the most important are the “transport rule” and the “toxics rule” (Utility MACT). Combined, these regulations will systematically reduce access to affordable and reliable energy

When I lived in ga I heard the coal train every 2 nights. I grew up in the woods and it scared the poop outa me when the first train ran by my house. The tracks were a quarter mile away. On a foggy night the sound was intense. I actually looked out the window to see if a train was off the tracks and coming my way. My ex was sleeping. ( ga woman ). She actually never knew when the trains ran, but I did. I got to work in the power plants albeit peripherally, and loved it. Every guy that works on power plants or works on the power lines always have the same attitude: get the power to the consumer. That is The GD TRUTH.
I'll bet dollars to donuts that Obama has a "plan" using taxpayer money to pay these guys off. They will say "Because our regulations destroyed the coal industry, saving the planet, we must pay these guys as long as it takes to find them new jobs."
Rolling blackouts, increased electric costs and people shivering or sweltering in their darkened homes..boy that will really help the economy. What is sickening is that this is all being done in response to the global warming fraud.
Coal is used to power a large part of the USA. This affects everyone and every industry.
I know that. I'm in TX, and they are shuttering five plants here. I think that compared to TX, West Virginia relies heavily on coal for it's electricity.
And it gets a lot colder in WV than where I live in TX. Nevertheless, I am not happy that all these butt ugly worhtless wind farms are popping up in the Lone Star State, and the cheap, reliable electricity that coal provides to us will be lost.
BTW, I wish that more people had looked at this thread.
I hope we aren’t the only ones looking into an alternative electrical system for when we go to 12 hours a day with the power turned off. Thats what we are all going to be looking at if they shut down the coal fired power plants.
Wyoming produces a lot of coal, oil, gas, etc. We are inundated with enviros wanting to shut down everything and they have the judges to give them what they want, including money. It never ceases to amaze me that anyone does not see the connection between food on the hoof, or in the ground and a full tummy. Neither do they see the connection between mineral extraction and a running vehicle and a warm house with lights and power.
