Why won't Cain attack Romney? (vanity)

Posted on 10/11/2011 10:49:05 AM PDT by teg_76

After Palin, I've been leaning towards Cain. My only problem with him is that he's much more comfortable attacking Perry than Romney.

I'm no fan of the bumbling debator from Texas who says his base has no heart, but this cozying up to Romney by Cain is concerning.

Herman Cain remains my favorite, but he needs to show he's not running for VP. He needs to go after Romney on Romneycare tonight. If he doesn't, it may be time to look elsewhere.

The one thing Rick Perry has going for him is that he's shown he's not afraid to take it to Romney, something all of the other candidates have been hesitant to do.

I’m only now becoming familiar with Cain so I can only guess.

I’ve long heard that Mitt has been the anointed one from the beginning. If true maybe the party bosses told Cain that his only real chance of the WH is a Romney Veep.

I hope I’m wrong of course.

He did go after Romney some last debate. You are right that he needs to go after him more.

That’s a pretty weak argument, teg_76. Omission doesn’t equal submission, or support for that matter.

“If he doesn’t, it may be time to look elsewhere.”

You’re basing your support on whether or not a candidate will be balanced in going after another candidate? What ever floats your boat, but I’d suggest broadening your scope.

I agree. Cain is currently my top choice by default, and although I certainly like him, I’ve found his unwillingness to criticize Romney... disconcerting. If he is just angling for a veep spot, I’ll lose a lot of respect I have for him.

Has Rick’s ‘taking it to’ Romney gotten him anywhere? Except polling around where Michele Bachmann is?

A politician with a record full of red flags taking on another politician with a record full of disasters doesn’t help.

It seems that a whole lot of Perry supporters are trying to control the discussion and bait Herman Cain into doing something that he shouldn’t.

Christie became a non-entity to me after endorsing RINOmney.

Hopefully, Cain will rise to the occasion and attack the Republican Party’s Sponge Bob...er...Sponge Willy.

I’ll row a boat over the ocean to vote for Cain.

I’ll stay home and have a beer rather than vote for RINOmney.

Romney said yesterday that people should vote for him or Cain. Why would he do this? Because Cain is he most powerful weapon against Perry. Romney can’t beat Perry without Cain, but Romney CAN beat Cain. Cain has no infrastructure and no money. He’s on a book tour and VP bid. So in essence (and this really pisses off the Cain supporters), a vote for Cain is a vote for Romney.

Look there is a whole lot more about Perry other than attacking Romney. Texas was last in the recession [barry’s depression for the rest of the nation] first out. Jobs and Texas economy should be what moves you to Perry.

Romney is DOA. Cain knows this. Attacking Romney is a waste of breath. Romney is perceived as being another Kerry by most of the country. Romney was never a conservative and isn’t one now. The man is a fake.

Why go negative and "attack" Romney while Ricardo's doing that full time? Not to mention Romney's record speaks for itself no matter how many times he tries to re-package and sugar coat it.

Cain's better off sticking to his simple and positive message - let the other guys slug it out in the mud.

Are you trying to say that Cain will be for Romney this time, what Huckabee was for McCain in 2008? Many say that without Huckabee - Romney would have won the nomination in 2008... But Huckabee split off the moral conservative base, leaving idiots and fools to vote for McCain and the who-knows-who voting for Romney (uneducated?).

So Romney is banking on Cain splitting the conservative vote with Perry - leaving him with the majority of votes.

Cain, referring to Romneycare while standing next to Romney.

he needs to pretend the others don’t exist, and promote his own proposals, give people a reason to vote for him (Cain). At this juncture, the press will give people enough reason to vote against any of them.
