Breaking: Christie to endorse Romney today
Hot Air ^ | OCTOBER 10, 2011 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 10/11/2011 11:04:13 AM PDT by RobinMasters

The only thing surprising about this is the timing:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, just one week after definitively announcing he will not run for president in the 2012 race, plans to endorse Mitt Romney for the job Tuesday afternoon, Fox News has learned.

The event is set to take place in Hanover, N.H., the site of the Republican presidential debate being held Tuesday night. The endorsement will be made in advance of the debate.

Marking a fast turnaround for Romney, the endorsement comes one week to the day since Christie called a press conference in Trenton to end once and for all the speculation that he would make a late entrance into the race.

RINOS of a feather ...

That paints such a disturbing image. Zoology will never be the same.

I agree. This was supposed to be the election that belonged to the “charged up” tea party types. The “anyone but Obama” crowds. The “we love America patriots” The Birthers. The “everybody who cares” populations. But it turns out to be politics as usual. It’s McCain being thrust down our throats. I don’t have a lot against Romney. I just wanted our process to play out. We haven’t even had a chance to breathe. I strongly suspect that Cain will be as happy about this endorsement as Christie. If Romney and Cain hug tonight, we’ll know...as if we don’t already. I hope we will still have a legitimate primary. I have spoken out against third parties forever. Our Republic is now threatened to the core. This promises to be a walk in the park takeover. The practice run happened with McCain. This time, they just inserted Cain who nobody knew. Next time we’ll just have a quick game of rock, paper, scissors.

I guess the Wall St banksters and hedgers resident in NJ have had a talk with Christie.

Disgusting but unsurprising.

I will never vote for Romney.

There has to be a mistake here if Cain is Mitt’s stalking horse per the Perry supporters shouldn’t he had endorsed Cain?

“After RWR the GOP swore they’d never allow an outsider to win the nomination again.”

And none has.

I suspect that Romney’s VP short list includes Christie and Cain.

The GOP would rather maintain control over the agenda and lose than allow conservatives in and win, obviously.

I agree with you 100%. I'm not big on his 9-9-9 plan but he is the only “conservative” left with any chance against the rampaging RINOs. I wish Palin had run but alas....ya got to work with what ya got...

Big deal, I wouldn’t vote for Christy and I won’t vote for Romney. I laugh everytime RINO’s are shoved in my face.

Hanover, New Hampshire (East Vermont) = a more upscale and elitist Berkeley, California, with more snow.

Christie’s endorsement says more about him than any news conference he attends. I’m glad he’s doing a good job in NJ and hope he stays there.

They have been that way for a loooong time. They opposed and defeated Goldwater. They opposed Reagan twice, defeating him once and losing to him once. They undermined and defeated O’Donnell, Palin and Bachmann. Rove smiles.

Conservatives play the same role in the GOP that blacks do in the Democrat party - farmed for contributions, votes, enthusiasm and horsepower, but left in the barn at night.

It will last as long as it is tolerated.
