GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. — Local Amish men say they aren't budging when it comes to state law.

Four of the men appeared in a Graves County courtroom Monday for refusing to pay fines for not displaying a reflective triangle on their buggies.

State law requires slow-moving vehicles to display the bright orange-red symbol.

In August, eight men, including the four in court Monday, spent time in jail for refusing to pay the fines.

The men said they're refusing to pay because the triangle is in direct violation of their religious

Let’s focus on what is really important here. Are there footbaths in the bathrooms for the mooslimes.

ALL MANNER of exceptions made for Muslims, sure...now we’ll see what they do to Amish.

They’ll get as much mercy, I figure, as their raw milk-selling colleagues.

Video wouldn’t play for me.
Can’t recall reading anything in the Bible about reflective red triangles. I can recall reading about rendering unto caesar that which is caesar’s, and unto God that which is God’s.
I think that the Amish are out to lunch on this one.

I typically always side with less regulation but this one is important and serves a very good purpose.

Those triangles show up extremely well and I would guess save a lot of lives. It is not much of an imposition either.

Why don’t we just leave these people alone?

What an arrogant judge. Whether you agree with the Amish or not; putting anyone in jail over this trivial of a violation is outrageous.

Government out of control. I’d do the time too. Resist tyranny at every opportunity.

The Amish have been using these road longer than they’ve been paved. Govt comes in paves them and dictates rules.

LEAVE THE AMISH ALONE.

Because some kid in his Moms van will come around a corner some dark night and not see these idiots in their black horse and buggy's and get killed.

Ever heard of grandfather provisions in society?

It the automobile that’s the problem. Set the speed limits at 25 mph.

Good point.

Maybe they can let them use some other type of reflective symbol.

What is with the beards? I wish I knew more about those people but it just seems like a freakish cult of some sort. I know they are peaceful people and keep to themselves but I just don’t get it. Is it a religion? Is there a book of Amish? They were Swiss I think to begin with. I know they are christian or at least I think they follow the teachings of Christ. Strange people is all I can say.

Any day if I sit on my front porch, I will see several log trucks drive by. I got to noticing they all will have a red flag attached to the logs protruding the most.

I am sure there is a law requiring them to do so. It is a good law too. It would be so easy to not see those logs way in back of the trailer and run right into them.

As I said, I usually say err on the side of freedom from regulations but there has to be a bit of common sense too.
