Romney in debate: I can work with 'good' Democrats

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) -- Presidential candidate Mitt Romney took some less staunchly conservative stands than his rivals in their debate Tuesday night, declaring he can work with "good" Democrats and positioning himself closer to the center in line with his claim that he can draw crucial independent voters in next year's general election.

He even defended portions of the Wall Street bailout, a particular sore point with many conservative voters who will play an important role in choosing the Republican nominee next winter and spring.

This guy is a pale Obama. If it comes down to Romney and Obama, I’m writing someone in.

The other issue that was brought up by Christie was Romney’s religion. Christie was warning conservatives who were critical of Romney being a Mormon.

That was a pitfall that I tried to warn people on FreeRepublic about. The anti-Mormon sentiment was drummed up by the left for the sole purpose of creating dissension in the GOP and many posters on FreeRepublic fell for it. We had anti- Mormon threads almost daily, here on FreeRepublic. I won’t be a part of anything that attacks Mitt Romney for his religion.

I never thought I would seriously go for a 3rd party candidate but Mittens is practically SHOVING me into doing so.

God help our country if he is the anointed GOP candidate. God help us all.

> Romney thumbed his nose at conservatives today.

You’re exactly right. Mittens thinks he can win without the core and soul of the GOP? He wants to represent party leaders and not the folks who make this country run? FUMR!!!! We need to COME OUT IN FORCE in the primaries and ensure this nitwit is not our candidate!

Romney is a Mormon like Bill Clinton is a Baptist. Neither has any conviction beyond doing and saying anything to get elected, and their real religion is self.

This is a post that I borrowed from Cincinnatus Wife. This is in addition to the Romney advisors that helped Obama with Obamneycare.

Mitt Romney hewed to his constant strategy of turning every question into an over-the-top attack on President Obama, while limiting his exposure to unpopular policy proposals.
Romney’s Troubling Appointments (Mitt’s environmental policy team now works for Obama) ....”Significantly, two of Romney’s appointments have how found a home in the Obama White House.

Gina McCarthy, the chief EPA clean air regulator, also worked as an environmental regulator for then-Governor Romney. Her role now is as point guard (nyuk) in the Obama Administrations fight to make coal fired electric generating plants extinct.

“EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson has taken most of the fire from Republicans as her agency rolls out a slew of controversial new climate and clean air rules. But McCarthy, the EPA assistant administrator of the Office of Air and Radiation, has taken on much of the heavy lifting of writing, structuring, and implementing the rules.

“Lisa’s the coach and Gina’s the quarterback” in the work of rolling out new clean air regulations, said Daniel Weiss, an energy and climate policy expert at the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank with close ties to the Obama administration. “She’s running the plays, improvising on the line.”

Another Romney environmental adviser in the effort to regulate “greenhouse gases” is now Obama’s Director of Science and Technology Policy, John Holdren. Dr. Holdren has some exotic views:

“President Obama’s “science czar,” John Holdren, once floated the idea of forced abortions, “compulsory sterilization,” and the creation of a “Planetary Regime” that would oversee human population levels and control all natural resources as a means of protecting the planet — controversial ideas his critics say should have been brought up in his Senate confirmation hearings.”....

romney and hunstman are democrats.

Exactly! They are in the same league as the traitor twins, Snowe and Collins. Huntsman sets off my gaydar. I found myself wondering if he and Charlie Christ ever hooked up. He tries to be funny, but fails so he also reminds me of Al Franken. I will be glad when he drops out but he’s not there because he thinks he has a chance, he’s there to try to do damage to the conservative candidates. Forget Romney, he will never drop out regardless of his poll numbers. If Romney couldn’t beat Juan McCain what makes anyone think he stands a chance at beating Hussein? He can’t.

Thanks for posting the actual quote, which is actually fairly innocuous when you read it. I won’t be surprised to hear similar language from any of the candidates. In fact, I’d bet on it.

Sorry, Ron Paul is a loon.

You’ve heard of the stopped clock that’s right twice a day.

Well, Ron Paul is a clock running out of control. It’s right more often than the stopped clock, but you can’t depend on it to tell the right time.

Why is Hussein’s name on the poll? I didn’t realize he was there last night.

What is a “good” Debtocrat?

SPENDAHOLIC Obama is terminally infected with the dreaded DEBT GREED virus. At present, there is no known cure for the DEBT GREED virus. Obama is a typical bad Debtocrat.

Show me a Debtocrat that is not yet infected with the DEBT GREED virus, and I will show you a GOOD Democrat.

The debate was about economy and jobs. While both are affected by illegal aliens, it is really more of an issue deserving of it’s own debate.
