Quick and dirty debate after-report: Perry Performance

To be fair, if you and I had to be up on stage with Charlie Rose and Karen Tumulty, we’d be soporifically stupefied after a few minutes, too. But then again, we’re not running for the highest office in the land and raising millions of dollars from people across the country who are counting on a candidate with the guts, gall, and gumption to take on Barack Obama. By those basic measures of fitness for office, Rick Perry once again failed to deliver. He was languid. Passive. Half-hearted. Listless. Just like he was during the 9/23 debate.

So who are you voting for? Cain seems to be a single issue candidate, Bachmann is unelectable, Huntsman might be worse than Romney, Santorum is a a Rumsfeld redux on foreign policy, Gingrich is a personal train wreck, and Palin isn’t running. We have a bad group of candidates and the George Bush reincarnate may be the best of them.

Which 4 aces are you talking about?

Instate tuition, Bi-national healthcare, Gore and Guiliani?

Perry consistently sucks. I dubbed him the Dunce, and he has done nothing to make me want to change that moniker, unless I go with Stammering Dunce. He has got no game.

Barbour would have had the same problem as Christie, it’s all about looking the part now. Barbour looks like the sheriff in the commercials Dodge used to run long ago, “You in a heap o’ trouble boy.”

If Romney looked like Dennis Kucinich he would be running at one percent in the polls. Even Herman Cain at 65 looks the part, Gingrich may be the best man running but he doesn’t look the part either. Abraham Lincoln probably couldn’t get elected to a local school board now.

Of course JUST looking the part doesn’t do it all as Perry seems to be proving but NOT looking the part seems to be the kiss of death in this era.

“There is only one thing that leaves a little hope for him. This debate had zero viewership”

I didn't even know I had a Bloomberg channel. It wasn't until after the debate was over when I discovered I did. But they say I didn't miss anything.

“Had Ralph Nader not been in the race in Florida, Gore would have won.”
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

That is probably true but hard to prove as a certainty, what does appear as a certainty is that if Gore had carried his own home state of Tennessee he would have won. It came down to a roll of the dice almost.

A stammering dunce can be elected as proven by Obama but then he has the support of the media and a D after his name.

I've noticed Perry staring off into space during some of these debates. Does he have an attention deficit problem or something? Example:

Bush was a verbal genius compared to Perry.

Bush was always animated and at least seemed convinced he was into what he was saying.

When Perry did speak last night, I was saying “Good God boy, put away your comic book and pay attention. Cliffs notes aren’t good enough for this”.

You can always tell the people with real substance, they don’t come off as being in fear.

..possibly 2012's Fred Thompson

Gets in late, essentially pushed into it, heart's not in it, then fades.

Unfortunately could split off enough conservative votes to let another McCain slip in--Romney

Mr. Cain must go into overdrive now IMHO...

Perry won the “debate”. Of the four times he was asked something he did get in a good, concise answer. Hard to look your best at the Romney Show, featuring his sidekick Herman the pizza man.

Perry will win SC. Not Cain. Not RINO Romney. He will then sweep the South.

Perry is who he is. He is not a BSing pro-abortion, pro-homo marriage fake and fraud and he can’t and can’t say 1000 words per minute.

He’s a slow-talking Texan. He is a conservative with convictions and he has ran Texas for the last 10 years. What in the the world has RINO Romney did other than run for president and spend money for the last 6 years. The answer is nothing.

They’ll tell her that Romney thanks her for her vote.

I live in the most conservative part of the great state of South Carolina. You are delusional. Cain is the guy everyone is talking about. The only reason Perry did well here at all was because of hopes of what he COULD be. He isn’t going to win anything here.

I’d expect to see a surge from Newt in the next week or so with Romney losing votes to him. Perry will lose more to Cain and will not get them back. Cain is the guy to beat here right now. A surge from Newt may change that if he plays his cards right.

People want a leader, not a stammering moron who can’t even read a talking point without screwing it up. Seriously, the majority of the people that I speak to daily here could have done a better job at that debate than Perry did.

You see, 2DV, unlike you Palin drones we Perrywinkles don't censure, berate, and smear someone just be because that person has a different opinion.

I was born and raised in SC. My brother has lived there for 55 years. Cain is a Romney stooge. He has no command of anything. His 9-9-9 is a joke. Ron Paul caught him in a lie last night. There are videos all over the internet of him saying nothing is wrong with the Fed and no reason to audit it. He says Alan Greenspan is the greatest Fed Chair he has ever seen, when in fact the incompetent Greenspan started the mess we are now in. Romney is a pro-abort, pro-homo marriage loving New England elitist snob and should be in the democratic party. The liberal media loves him because they know their liberal can beat the RINO. SC has always been a very conservative state and there is no way in the world RINO Romney will carry the state and there is no way an inexperienced big government, Fed loving former pizza chain boss will carry the state. Perry is a slow talking Texan. Nothing at all stupid about him. The only SC folk that will be voting for Cain or Romney are the Yankees that have taken over the Charleston area.

Really, how important are the debates to the final outcome? I can’t find any research on that.

I don't think it's just perry's bedwetting performances in the debates that are driving his numbers down, it is his position on money for ILLEGAL ALIENS, no fence on the border, his cozy relationship with Merck and his just plain "deer in the headlights look" of a guy without a clue.

Perry can not debate and looks like a grade school kid being picked on by high school kids and all he wants to do is get home to mama.
