Apparently the Olive Garden in Oxford, Alabama, refused the request of the local Kiwanis Club to fly the flag during one of their meetings at Olive Garden. The Orlando-based parent company Darden industries made a statement that included this quote: ""To be fair to everyone and avoid disrupting the dining experience for all other guests, they're unable to accommodate flags or banners of any type in the dining room," according to the statement.

Olive Garden is working with Michelle Obama to “right” the wrongs of their food as well.

I’ve found my crockpot and everything that I can eat at Olive Garden can be made cheaper and better at home.

I sent an email earlier today:

Subject: Flag?

FROM: PDMiller
TO: hschauer@darden.com

So the US Flag is a disruption to other diners? Well, count on it not disrupting me as I will never set foot in another Olive Garden again.

"To be fair to everyone and avoid disrupting the dining experience for all other guests, they're unable to accommodate flags or banners of any type in the dining room,"

Their restaurant, their rules. Don't necessarily agree with them, but they are absolutely in their rights to say you can't have flags or banners in their facility.

Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Bahama Breeze, & Capital Grille), has committed the following mortal sins:

1. They are large donors to Planned Parenthood
2. They received an exemption to Obamacare
3. They removed French fries from their menu in an effort to model Moochelle’s fitness plan. What a laugh.

And now, this nonsense about the flag. They can rot. I’ll go without before I set foot in one of their slop holes again.

Eat at Carrabbas, the food is much better and they support Operation Freedom, which provides a taste of home to our men and women serving in harm’s way.

It is their restaurant, they can make whatever rules they want.
If these rules are consistent and across the board, that’s they way it should be.
It is also (according to the story) this particular restaurant did not have a private dinning area, that was the primary reason.
Yes, if you feel strongly about it, plenty of other inexpensive “Italian” restaurants to find a meal at.

Give it up. There are bigger battles to fight than trying to tell a restaurant how to operate.

They explained that there was a policy not to allow any banners, etc. because of lack of room. It’s apparently a smaller restaurant with no private dining room for meetings.

This is not about patriotism but about practicality. Give Olive Garden the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Darden has caved on this!! They are getting lots of nasty calls and emails on this and they are modifying their policy. I called for the head of the manager that perpetrated this abomination. Keep it up Freepers.

They regret that. The Kawanians are usually some of the most prominent members of the community.

‘Twould be a shame if they started to get crappy food inspection ratings.

I suspect the Kawanians will find another meeting place.

Just sent them an Email. I told them “If the American flag is not good enough for Olive Garden, then neither am I, and my family.” No more Darden restaurants or their gift cards. I hope they enjoy and embrace their diversity.

No.... butya know that picture of the royal Mr. & Mrs. munching burgers and fries? Well.....my husband and I made an afterhours run to our local Olive Garden and taped an 8 X 10 Glossy photo of the grease oozing down their facees, right on their front door. We laughed all the way home.

Olive Garden's recent action was an abomination against our American heritage.

But they have been an ongoing abomination against my Italian heritage ever since their opening day.

Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Capitol Grille, etc.) are run by Clarence Otis, Jr., a Buttswabber for Obama. I won’t eat at any Darden Restaurant because they are overrun with B4O types.
