SEAL BEACH, Calif. (AP) _ A gunman opened fire Wednesday in a busy hair salon, killing eight people and critically wounding another while leaving bodies scattered throughout the business in a normally sedate Southern California beach community.
The gunman got into a truck and drove away from Salon Meritage after opening fire. Scott Evans Dekraai, 42, was stopped by officers about a half-mile away and surrendered without incident while saying he had multiple weapons with him, police Sgt. Steve Bowles said.
Dekraai was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder, Bowles said.

I could never be a police officer. The moment he was positively ID’d, I would have executed this monster on the spot (as he was trying to escape, of course).
Guess there was a REASON his ex-wife didn’t want to give him time with their child!
They could have also tried to preserve the blow back residue on his face in a similar manner, of course you need a very tight seal to do this properly.
I know I will get flamed here, but I’ve seen it done to men — good men. Many times it takes an impeccable man to tolerate the outflow and unfair decisions of ‘family courts’
We will never know what the feminist court actions were or what his ex claimed, etc. Too many of these shooters are pushed over the edge and until society looks at the truth, we will continue to bury our heads in the sand.
No excuse for this but we will see more until the out of control courts are reined in.
Good men don't murder people.
“Good men don’t murder people.”
True enough. But everyone has their breaking point. That’s when rationality goes out the window, and things such as this occur.
Very likely, he was a good man. But yesterday, he reached his breaking point.
Just read about this guy. He was a tugboat captain. One of his crew was caught in a towline and killed in 07. He ran to assist, and was badly injured and crippled. While he was in the hospital, she filed for divorce and went for custody of his 3 year old son. Its been a court battle ever since. He was evil for what he did,,, but divorce cruelty affects some people badly and takes em over the edge. Most guys in his situation stuff it inside and drink themselves to death, or have heart attacks.
None of them have snapped, of course. And this guy's life is, deservedly, over.
But something does need to be done about the way courts (and greedbag lawyers) insert themselves into messy family situations.
Pray for this couples son, who is likely without both parents now.
Men who lose jobs in this economy, will still have a child support levy to fulfill, no court that I know of, lowers that, period. Like a third world country where there’s debtor’s prison, this father will be thrown in jail for violating the child support court order. The amounts will continue to accrue and be attached with outrageous interest charges to boot. Nothing to save guys in this dilema.
Will we learn the specifics of this case? I doubt it.
EWWW...man boobs
the solution is stay single and/or get snipped.
I disagree. If that were true there would be considerably more murders. Some people's true nature, or perhaps weakness, is revealed by the difficult circumstances of their life. The majority of men and women who have just as bad and much worse circumstances would not go on a murder spree.
Maybe, but why not just shoot her and them off your self?
Those other seven folks were just there, and had nothing to do with this guys life.
“EWWW...man boobs”
I was just gonna say he needs a “Bro”
Oh nearly everyone has a breaking point. But most don’t lash out, most internalize, stuff it in, and drink, or die young. Think of the most religious, family loving men you know. Then watch as they are accused of unspeakable crimes against their kids, as everything they valued is legally stripped away with pure lies,,,watch as they are subjected to gleeful cruelty. It does destroy some decent men. Not everyone is Job, who endured.
Family law in America is designed to grind men into dust,,, not all people survive the process with their sanity intact.
Here’s the thing.
If this guy would have just whacked his old lady it would be one thing. (He may have even had some sympathy).
But the moment he decided to take 7 other innocent lives is when he transitioned from disgruntled husband to psychopath.
It was a hair salon. I suspect this guy felt his ex was receiving a little 'encouragement' from her associates.
“I suspect this guy felt his ex was receiving a little ‘encouragement’ from her associates.”
Yes. Many times it’s the others around the woman that convinces her to pull the divorce rope. Remember he was at sea a good deal of time.
