SEAL BEACH, Calif. (AP) _ A gunman opened fire Wednesday in a busy hair salon, killing eight people and critically wounding another while leaving bodies scattered throughout the business in a normally sedate Southern California beach community.
The gunman got into a truck and drove away from Salon Meritage after opening fire. Scott Evans Dekraai, 42, was stopped by officers about a half-mile away and surrendered without incident while saying he had multiple weapons with him, police Sgt. Steve Bowles said.
Dekraai was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder, Bowles said.

Sounded like cops were thinking there was some connection to the salon. Who knows,, could be something as simple as coworkers helped her move out,,,, etc. ,
You know the old saying,,,after one, all the rest are free. And he just surrendered like nothing. no suicide, no standoff, no shooting at cops.
He should have just walked away, left kid and all and tried to find another life. It woulda been very tough, but prob easier on his son than never seeing him AND knowing your dad murdered mom and others.
He shoulda walked and taught english in Siberia or something.
“the solution is stay single and/or get snipped.”
Yes, but that is not a viable solution for our society. But, until the ladies wise up and start undoing the damage they’ve allowed to be done in their names, then I don’t know what else can be done.
I always told my daughter to never miss a chance to show a small gesture of kindness to the kid at school who others abuse. First, it builds character and should shame the jerks. But also, many mass shootings have incidents where a shooter remembers some small words, and passes someone by. I read at Columbine of 2 kids that were passed by because of something as simple as the kid always saying hi to them,, not being good friends, just saying hi when they passed in the hall.
Once threads start to swirl down the boys vs. girls toilet, there’s no stopping the projection, the speculation and the downright idiocy.
You have absolutely no idea of the circumstances in the lives of this murderer and the dead victim he was married to.
Care to speculate on the injustices that may have caused her to file for divorce? Me, either, because I don’t have the faintest idea.
Blog your fantasies on another site; posts like this are used against FR. Is that flame hot enough for you?
“He should have just walked away, left kid and all and tried to find another life.”
Court orders will follow you to all 50 states. Behind on child support payments, no passport for you. You are a prisoner in your own country, not really your country anymore thou.
“He was a tugboat captain”
Betcha after that accident/death he lost his insurance carrier or got a 1000% increase in premium, and then couldn’t afford the court directed payments. May have been pushed toward bankruptcy from his own medical costs.
Ok, you’re still at it. Let’s see, you and your like minded he-man buddy on this thread have now painted a fantasy of this poor mass murderer that goes something like this:
A brave, wonderful tugboat hero is wounded and left without medical insurance and resources to pay child support after a divorce from a horrible (now dead) woman, who, egged on by her co-workers to leave this teddy bear of a guy, tries to enforce her child’s right to support from his father. So he just has to kill her, of course, along with seven innocent bystanders. But, wait, they are probably the same ones who encouraged the divorce in your little fantasy, so they had it coming, too! And the poor guy is now going to jail instead of getting a medal pinned over his fuzzy hooters! Oh, the humanity!
Is that how your little fantasy goes? Well, don’t stop now—make up some more details to absolve the poor killer! Betcha he was raped by Amazons! Betcha girls stole his lunch every day in grade school! Betcha a girl turned him down for prom! Horrible women!
Betcha can project all your failures with women onto him!
Brilliant, succinct reply. You nailed this. Kudos.
