From Reagan Republican, I forgot to use the italics tag ans quotes again. Sorry for the confusion.
Mr. Cain said on The View to several rabidly liberal hosts and in front of an audience of millions of women that he didn't believe in abortion even in cases of rape and incest. You trying to say that Mr. Cain is soft on abortion is just a flat out misrepresentation and I resent that.
Wow! In one hate-filled paragraph you denigrated just about every trait in Cain that I’d call good in any man. Just how old are you?
During Bush’s troubles running this country I made some of the same excuses you did in that paragraph - debates don’t run the country by sound bites, etc. I was also painfully pissed about Liberals’ dismissal of Bush’s graduation from an Ivy League school (in businesss, I believe)...the same way you just did with CAIN.....All good excuses put forward for Bush’s inept domestic performance and appeasement.
I’ll trust an honest man who speaks my language above all else. Perry doesn’t speak it. A real American doesn’t call other Americans who want their country sovereign “heartless.”
I’ll say this about you Perry-bots, you’re sure protective of other Texans no matter how bad they are.
No, he said the federal government needed to back off the states' regulation and prohibition of abortion.
"If I were president, I would sign legislation that would protect the sanctity of life. Additionally, I would be in favor of any legislation that would encourage adoptions as a loving and safe alternative to abortion. --Race42012 Interview with Herman Cain, 23 February 2011
Its not Planned Parenthood. No, its planned genocide. You can quote me on that... Theres not any planning other than to abort the baby.CNSNews.com, 15 March 2011
Cain says his conservative credentials are impeccable. For example, he holds the position that, unless a mother's life is threatened, all abortions should be illegal _ even if a woman became pregnant through rape or incest.Associated Press, 22 March 2004
An archived search of Cain's campaign website shows that he routinely attacked Isakson for wavering on abortion rights, chastising him in an early radio ad for voting "to allow abortions in our tax-funded military hospitals overseas."Huffington Post, "Herman Cain's 2004 Campaign: 'Godless' Gays And Planned Parenthood Eugenics," 5 Oct 2011
So that is the money line you pulled out of my reply to you. That's a good one, for sure. You betcha! I like it and its true.
Can't say I appreciate the prickish nature of your reply to me, however. Which I'd say was mostly juvenile asinine BS. But then again, I can see that you're all wound up over any criticism, fair or unfair, coming Cain's way. Too bad. Get use to it, bucko. My guess is you were one of those rabid Palin supporters who found anything posted about Palin, to be part of the PDS conspiracy. Now that Palin is officially out you've moved on to drooling over Herman Cain. LOL Whatever.
I like Herman Cain, I really do. Might even vote for him some day. But the fact is, he's a complete political neophyte. Cain has zero executive governing experience, zero legislative experience and zero political experience. If that flips your switch then Cain should be your main man. I'll stick with Governor Perry.
When it comes to Reagan, the worse thing anyone can do is to twist the Gipper's record in order to make their candidate of choice look better. And I will be the first to call them on it. Been defending Reagan for years around FR. Funny, never seen you before today. Second worse thing that anyone can do is to use the Reagan legacy to bash good conservatives like Rick Perry. That is uncalled for and thoroughly outrageous. A tactic more consistent with liberals than conservatives.
Thanks.
The more Cain is vetted I more I like it.
Mind posting some links, please.
Gov. Perry is a good compassionate conservative. I personally do not see him as a “Reagan Conservative”. I see him as more of a “Bush Conservative” and I was a supporter of both Bush Sr. and Jr. because no matter what my issues with them were, they were both light years ahead of the alternatives. I just wish they could have done more to limit the size of government. And yes I have been a strong supporter of Sarah Palin for many years.
I don't mind criticism of any of our candidates until it starts crossing the line to where it is starting to damage their chances in the general election against Obama. You Sir have been crossing that line with extreme regularity. Please review your own posts.
As far as your annoyance with me... you reap what you sow.
Absolutely false, NOT true! You MUST have me confused with someone else. The extent of my criticizing Cain has been on four basic issues. So far anyway. The basic 4 are, his 999 tax plan; his Chilean reform plan for SocSec; his choice of a Greenspan clone to head the FedRes; and his confusing stance on abortion from his recent appearance on the Stossel show. I'm a big pro-lifer ever since Roe v Wade became law. I just want the facts about Cain. I found an old thread on FR that cleared up some of the confusion on abortion. LINK I want Cain vetted on all the issues. Period.
In my book, a Reagan conservative, 1964-1989, applies to the issues ONLY. Reagan supported a strong military, lower taxes, limited govt and he was pro-life. On those major issues, Perry is a Reagan conservative. The big 5th issue that has been added in the last 20 years is immigration reform. On immigration both men have less then ideal positions, but that is not a disqualifying factor.
FWIW. Thanks for more civil tone.
What a stupid idea! If Cain can't stand the heat of the primary, he'll be chewed up and spit out in the general.
Well, you can easily get the links by googling the information I gave you, but in the interest of being friendly:

I have been reacting to a lot of negative posts lately which I believe are helping to kill enthusiasm for all of our candidates and could hurt the eventual winner in the general election. I am certainly not blameless myself. I agree that the primary process is intended to “vet” the candidates. If I have gotten carried away and mistaken you for someone else, I do apologize.
We have many books on President Reagan and are always looking for more. I looked for your book on Amazon and was not able to find it. I would love it if you could shamelessly promote it by posting a link.
Alan Greenspan was appointed by President Reagan and he was reappointed four times. Over such a long period of time there were both failures and successes, admiration, and jealousy. Certainly he probably deserves some of the blame for the roots of our current economic problems. I don't have a problem with Mr. Cain's admiration of Mr. Greenspan. There is no “clone” of Mr. Greenspan that I know of.
I believe that the “999 plan” would help to stimulate the economy, but I have my own reservations and doubt that it has much of a chance of making it through Congress in it's current form. I do like that Mr. Cain has a point to negotiate from with Congressional leaders.
His chance of getting the “Chilean reform plan” through Congress in its current form are also remote, but reform is needed and again at least Mr. Cain a has a point from which to negotiate. I appreciate that he is at least addressing the issue.
From what I have seen Mr. Cain has as strong a stand on abortion as any of the candidates. The way that he handled the liberal women on The View when they brought it up was straight forward. It was amazing to me the way that he managed to keep the discussion from turning into a shouting match.
I largely agree with you on your technique of judging who is a Reagan Republican by their positions on the military, lower taxes, limited government, and abortion. By that measure almost all of the current candidates are Reagan Republicans. I think of the infamous dirty trick employed by Lloyd Bentsen against Dan Quayle, “Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy” I doubt that any of the current contenders would fall into the trap of directly comparing themselves to Ronald Reagan. I am too tired this evening to document all of the reasons why, but Herman Cain has the presence and personality that reminds me the most of President Reagan.
Please have a good evening. Again I am sorry if I crossed the line in my posts to you. It wouldn't be the first time. I know you are a good man and I appreciate your participation in these forums.
>Cain said that he would pick Romney as his VP at the 9/22/11 Debate.<
Since then he’s said he would approach Jim DeMint or Paul Ryan to see if they’d run with him.
Remember, the question asked of the candidates in that debate was, “Who out of the other candidates would you choose as VP?”. That’s not much of a pool, when you think about it.
