Step 1: The first rule of the establishment is: Do not admit you are part of the establishment! Step 2: Disarm them with praise Step 3: Moderate whoever they pick as the 2012 nominee. Step 4: Teach them about compromise. Step 5: Never forget reality

If that is true of Perry, why are all the elites critical of Perry at every opportunity?... Rove and Krauthammer aren't even subtle about it.

I think they fear Perry because Rove never could handle him...they think they can handle Cain when the time comes.!

And who trusts Bill Kristol to know what he's talking about?

No one is conservative enough for posers like you and people who do nothing but join our enemies in dividing the party.

Purity, dammit!!!

Very weak. When we object to Republican candidates who advocate about 75 percent of what we're AGAINST, in both principle and specifics, you must resort to accusing us of being "purists."

You will search in vain for an actual purist. The "purist" is a figment of your and many others' imagination. However, you will find thousands of people who accuse those who reject their candidates of being "purists."

Count yourself one of those thousands.

Swamp, that was a courtesy ping. I was knocking Deb for sarcastically calling you a “hero” for refusing to vote for RINOs, when I think refraining from voting for RINOs is actually the truly heroic thing to do. I not only understand you, I agree with you.

Why don't you do a little research and see if you can find ONE candidate, on ANY thread, who isn't trashed for being a RINO. Just one. (And Cain doesn't count)

You purity voters need to concentrate on electing a majority conservative Congress and quit working to guarantee Obama is reelected.

More likely, Deb, Obama loves you because seeing a moderate Republican nominee like Romney, the moderate "party line" you schill for, is Obama's best hope for reelection.

You might be fooling yourself, but a lot of us here see you for the tragically mistaken thing you are.

Yep -- the Democrats love these threads because they see you on them helping set their statist philosophy and their guy up for dual wins. Even if their guy loses, their philosophy wins.

The Democrats must love you, Deb.

What’s laughable about this whole thread is that the posted article used as a “source” is the Atlantic, by far one the oldest of the partisan leftwing establishment publications!

Deb, people like me aren't "dividing the party".

We are demanding that our Constitution be honored, protected and defended, as so many of us have sworn to do.

If the GOP wants to play fast and loose with the Constitution they will have to do it without our help.

You may be willing to play word games with the Bill of Rights as Romney has done, I will not!

I’m “Flailing”? Then why don’t you shut up or learn how to spell “winning”?

You purity voters ...

You just can't express yourself to people here without hostility and deliberate insults, can you? Find me ONE "purity" voter. You can't -- the only thing you'll find is people on any and all sides accusing those who reject their candidates of being purists. Accusations are plentiful -- actual purists are figments of imagination. Haven't you figured that out yet??????????

Maybe the reason the candidates (except Cain, and I would say Bachmann) are being trashed for being RINOs is because they are. In the 2008 primaries, except for Thompson and Hunter, it is certainly true that ALL of them were big government statist moderates -- my idea of RINO.

Instead of leveling vitriol, why don't you enlighten us readers as to what you're willing to sacrifice? What "impurities" would you tolerate? Global warming/cap and trade? 2nd Amendment? Government-controlled health care? Abortion? Hostility to Israel? Government programs to "grow jobs"? Gay marriage? Open homosexuality in the military? What among those are you happy to sacrifice in the guy you VOTE to put those things into action?

There is plenty of time for the RNC to wake up. They will do nothing if they think they can shove Romney down our throats.

It is up to them.

MORE flailing from you!! Looks like I'm winning in this thread's argument with you! {^)

And yet more proof that you're unable to address adversaries here without hostility and insult. Interesting.

Oh, man, again!!

Are you so empty-handed, so depleted of substantive arguments OR so unwilling to just leave the thread, that you cannot address me or others here who disagree with you, without hostility and insult? What is your purpose? My purpose is to tell you and others reading how and why, if Romney gets the nomination, I will vote for someone else. My purpose is to share ideas on how going statist and moderate in the Republcan party is a tragic mistake.

YOUR purpose, it appears to me, seems to be to insult and anger certain individuals, totally irrelevant with regard to politics.

Found any candidate not named a RINO yet? You keep mouthing inanities and nonsense, go try to find someone pure or shut up.

First of all there is no evidence that Kristol said any of this, second of all, since when is what Kristol says gospel?

Weellllll, if you want to get all epistemic about it, Clairity, it's all just spinning electrons on a screen, right? Just like all the b.s. about Perry you and the other fangirls have put up for the last five months!

Yeah, who the hell is Kristol, or the Slimes, or God, or anybody, when Clairity sez different?

See my epistemic bind, GF? Who am I gonna believe, you or my lyin' eyes?

The article is what it is -- those guys told dear Elspeth that your guy is going to roll over for the Yacht Club.

I've been telling you and everyone else for months, your guy plays ball for money, and now here's a fresh tell that says the same thing -- live with it.
