The written transcript of Obummer's comment leaves out an important nuance in his wording. The transcript is:

"There have been problems, you know. I heard on the news about this story that -- Fast and Furious..."

But in the actual video, he says "I heard" then pauses for a very brief moment, then adds "on the news" (with his voice raising in pitch) almost as an afterthought to cover his ass.

So, Obummer only heard about it "on the news..."

You are spot on. I was thinking "yeah, like he sits down and watches the news every night."

I also wanna know what news organizations were actively reporting on the scandal, since we here at FR were complaining about the lack of coverage.
