EU considering massive cuts to food aid for poor

The European Union is considering a roughly 75 percent cut in funding for a program that helps feed 18 million of its poorest citizens.

The cuts, set to take effect after New Year's, would come at a time of rising unemployment and consumer food prices in many parts of Europe, as well as overall economic turmoil on the continent. The looming cuts already have raised fears among people who rely heavily on the program.

"We poor, small people, we cannot face up to this," said Rene Waltener, 41, who is unemployed and married with four children. "We sometimes have difficulties getting through the month, so a bit of milk here, a tin of cassoulet, a bit of yogurt — the kids are happy with that and it allows us to continue."

The Food for the Deprived program dates back to 1987. At first, it relied heavily on food surpluses from farms that benefited from a bloated and inefficient subsidy regime. But over time, as the farming became more efficient, food was increasingly purchased on the market to keep the program going.

Harry Gschwindt of the Brussels Food Bank put the potential cut in simple terms.

"This year we received 19 different products. Next year it's only going to be four. It's tomato soup, it's rice, milk rice and chicken," he said. Gone are milk, sugar, corn and fish, and other contributions.

As radical as the idea is (/s), maybe the EU might try replacing some of their radical socialism with capitalism and generate jobs and income to reduce their welfare roles.

Yes, I know, it is extreme, but.....

The spin will be that this is an emergency program to counteract childhood obesity.

Here’s a radical idea: stop putting Muslim immigrants on the dole! Or better yet: turn them away all together.

Well, if we nominate our “non-heartless” candidate, we’ll go broke keeping the food spigot flowing to lazy bums.

If they cut subsidies and price supports for their farmers, maybe “the poor” wouldn’t need so much food aid. Just sayin’ ...

Gosh, it’s hard for government to buy off everyone at once, but you have to try if you’re going to keep the racket functional.

U.S. Slaughter beef prices are way up now due to exports for demand in east Asia and other “developing” countries. They’re expected to go up much more because of the most recent free trade agreement. Enjoy the extermination of western “unskilled,” useless eaters. It will usher in the better global system of corporate socialism, where small shops are illegal and small farms will be.

Maybe you poor EU folks might consider breaking into EU magazines, arming yourselves and killing EU fascists. Up to you. Starve or fight.

Hint:

magazine |?mag??z?n; ?mag??z?n|

3 - a store for arms, ammunition, explosives, and provisions for use in military operations.

Good luck. I love your fish ‘n chips.

And since most of Europe has basically kicked Christianity out, there aren’t nearly as many private Christian charities there anymore to minister to the poor.

It’s the only main reason why any european country has any population growth. The whites have stopped reproducing pretty much altogether. THey will be majority muslim countries within 30 years. Then they will inherit nukes by fiat. And we’ll have a muslim nuclear France and England and Germany banding together and threatening the rest of the world with those nukes.

“And since most of Europe has basically kicked Christianity out, there aren’t nearly as many private Christian charities there anymore to minister to the poor.”

You hit the nail on the head. Worshipping or depending on the state always ends in misery or death.

So, Secret Agent Man, have you a recommendation to wake up our European cousins?

I have my opinions, but I enjoy hearing the ideas of others...
