He doesn’t play by their rules, doesn’t kiss their back sides, and refuses to be controlled.

A faction of FR hates Cain. It’s just the way it is.

Hey, a lot of people like him, even a lot of GOP “elites”. I think you may have this one wrong: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2793020/posts

It’s really not complicated.

He’s not a liberal Republican (they also detested Reagan)
He’s not one of them (the elite)

Same reason they hated Reagan (when he was a candidate).

Same reason they hate Palin.

Simple - his empowerment (entitlement) zones in his 999 plan are not conservative values.

The establishment also has a problem with TEA, Palin, and Perry.

The best way to expunge the grunge is to work and win at the grassroots level.

Cain is wonderful, btw. Not sure about 9-9-9 however.

Welcome to FR.

I would not include Hannity in that list.

I believe that it’s because career politicians ee it as just that... a career. They’re jockeying for promotions.

When an upstart comes in who hasn’t made his way up the ranks in the ‘proper’ way (IE; a real citizen trying to make a positive difference) they’re resented. The career politicians look at it like the upstart hasn’t paid their ‘dues’.

Politics is all about making deals - horsetrading behind the scenes. Someone who doesn’t play ball doesn’t ‘get it’ and they come together to stomp them out.

Establishment politicians have forgotten that our founders saw our representatives as US. They were supposed to take time away from their farms or their businesses, do some good for their country, then go home and live with the laws they created.

Now, it’s just another profession.

I believe that this is why Washington corrupts. It’s all a damn game to them. Most of them forget their true purpose.

the republicans have been since the beginning just prior to the civil war,

for big government and big spending. in the 1890s they spent money like water.

in the early 20th c they developed, as did the democrats, an admiration for totalitarianism—lenin, hitler and mussolini.

they never have been “conservatives”.

conservatism began with william buckley, barry goldwater, ronald reagan, milton friedman, fa hayek, von mises, and some of ayn rand.

They live on Business as Usual in politics. Their whole power base rests on handing the baton of political power back and forth between them and the Democrat Elite.

Cain challenges everything they base their world view on. If can can win, most of what they base their political power on is threatened. The tax code, the need for million $ high power political consultants etc etc etc

I do not believe that to be the case...neither does Sean Hannity. I do not the “GOP Elite” even exists. If so, name names.

It is a convenient bogeyman to blame when some one’s candidate, like Bachmann, self destructs.

Are you really surprised with the Fox News talking faces? Are you really surprised with Rove?

All of the above answers are great.

Bottom line is the republican party as a whole has been taken over by the liberals. The country club types if you will. Living in their ivory towers and sending down their commands to the conservative base to do what they say.

Anything (tea party) or anybody (Cain or Palin) is seen as a threat to their power structure and firm grasp on the party.

These people are no better then liberal democrats and many of them enjoy each others company and are frequently seen with each other at affairs and such.

This establishment is dragging the country down nearly as quickly as the democrats are...Perhaps some are a bit more fiscally conservative then your typical liberal democrat but make no mistake about it, if they had free reign it would spell the end of the republic in the blink of an eye.

In any place not on the up and up you have to ‘make your bones’ so as to be as culpable as the rest. That way you can’t afford to step out of line.
