Study finds Rick Perry target for criticism: So much for civility
Politico ^ | oct 14, 2011 | Maggie Haberman

From the study:

Perry has been singled out for criticism 39 times - about twice the combined total of Herman Cain (9), Jon Huntsman (5), Ron Paul (4), Rick Santorum (1), Michele Bachmann (1), and Newt Gingrich (0) and 10 more than Mitt Romney (29).

"I don't think this (amnesty) is that difficult an issue if Congress would have the maturity to sit down and really discuss it and cut out all the mean rhetoric," Perry said during a break in the third day of meetings with Mexican officials and business executives.

Accountability is a bitch.

Cain will learn the same when he finds out that a NRST is probably unconstitutional. That's the nature of politics these days. Stop acting like a crybaby.

Governor Perry communicated perfectly the political animal we have in Romney. “I mean, we’ll wait until tomorrow and — and — and see which Mitt Romney we’re really talking to tonight,” says it all.

Cain on Greenspan: “the best the Federal Reserve has had in the past 40 years”

This Greenspan:

Former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan Thursday offered a spirited defense of the controversial H-1B program program, telling a U.S. Senate subcommittee that the visa quota is "far too small to meet the need," and that it protects U.S. workers from global competition, creating a "privileged elite."

The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World

Of all the presidents with whom he worked, he praises Bill Clinton above all others, saying that Clinton maintained “a consistent, disciplined focus on long-term economic growth.

(Wow, what about Reagan?)

“Republicans deserved to lose the 2006 elections.”

1998 bailout of Long Term Capital

Some industry officials said that Federal Reserve Bank of New York involvement in the rescue, however benign, would encourage large financial institutions to assume more risk, in the belief that the Federal Reserve would intervene on their behalf in the event of trouble. Federal Reserve Bank of New York actions raised concerns among some market observers that it could create moral hazard.

LTCM’s strategies were compared (a contrast with the market efficiency aphorism that there are no $100 bills lying on the street, as someone else has already picked them up) to “picking up nickels in front of a bulldozer” – a likely small gain balanced against a small chance of a large loss, like the payouts from selling an out-of-the-money option.

***********************************************

Cain made the case that the entitlement program was inherently biased against African Americans.

"If that's going to be a transfer from me to white people," Cain said of his own payments into the Social Security trust fund, "can't I at least give it to white people I like?"

****************************************************

This is Herman Cain: “I get the same stupid question at almost every one of these events, I know it’s a deliberate strategy. How can a person randomly show up at a hundred events and ask the same stupid question to try to nail me on the Federal Reserve?”

Cain lied in the debate.

Cain responded by claiming he never dismissed Ron Paul or his supporters as “ignorant” for asking about the Federal Reserve, and that the error was down to Paul believing what he read on the Internet. (maybe not, he called them stupid)

Cain on radio—No Need To Audit the Federal Reserve

Transcript:

Some people say we ought to audit the Federal Reserve. Here's what I do know. The Federal Reserve already has so many internal audits it's ridiculous. I don't know why people think we're going to learn this great amount of information by auditing the Federal Reserve.... Here's the advice I've given to people who are worried about an audit of the Federal Reserve. Call them up and ask them! You can stop by and have one of their P.R. people or one of their public relations people explain to you how the Federal Reserve operates. I think a lot of people are calling for this audit of the Federal Reserve because they don't know enough about it. There's no hidden secrets going on in the Federal Reserve to my knowledge. And I tell people, we've got 12 Federal Reserve Banks. Find out which district you are in, call them up and go from there. We don't need to waste money with another commission or an audit. That is not necessary because folks, we've got a lot of other problems we've got to worry about.

It is not just Paulbots who want an audit.

The heartless comment destroyed Perry’s campaign. It was his Dean Scream. You can choose to believe it’s because we’ re thin skinned.

You’re wrong.

The problem for Perry is that the comment reveals much about his mindset on the issue. We’ve heard it before. We are racist. Nativists. Heartless. We’ve been there, got the T-shirt.

No amount of justifying his tuition stance will save Perry’s campaign. If he is to survive, he must walk back the mindset his heartless comment reveals. How he does that without being hypocritical is beyond me. But if he does not repudiate the position, the size of his campaign account is meaningless.

I think you and the rest miss the forest for the trees.

And deliberately so I suspect in some cases.

It's not that Perry's been a target, it's the disproportion. That should concern everyone because, as you contend, it won't get easier in the general.

Everyone who is a threat to win the nomination better be getting their fair share of criticism in the debates now but it hasn't happened.

The long knives have been out for Perry most of all, by 34% over Romney.

Uh, what does calling someone out at a debate have to do with civility? That’s part of what debates are for, to draw contrasts. And Perry was an easy target for everyone, since it’s basically impossible to miss.

I'm a little tired of the whining about that myself. Last week it was Michele Bachmann's "low blow" to Herman Cain that caused crying from everyone but Cain.

People need to grow the hell up and get over it.

Of all the presidents with whom he [Cain] worked, he praises Bill Clinton above all others,

Let's see: Cain prefers and extols the virtues of the Federal Reserve and TARP, Greenspan, Romney (2008), AND Clinton?

And he wants to insert a federal sales tax and tax collectors into the sale of every package of tea sold in this country?

And the Greenspan-Romney-Fed-Clinton hating Tea Partiers who are ready to coronate Cain by acclamation couldn't be happier? "It's Cain! I Cain't get enough of that guy and his 9-9-9! Give some MORE of that government!"

Rick Perry is NOT pro-illegal aliens. Stop lying!!

Perry has pleaded with the feds to protect his border and he's spent millions of TX taxpayer money trying to protect the border. You ignore the truth that has been told many times here on FR because the truth does not fit your agenda. You'd rather lie about it.

Perry has his fingerprints on 41 percent of the 29 attacks against Romney, with Huntsman close behind at 34 percent (with 10).

It's about darned time someone went after Romney after all the sucking up done by Cain and Bachmann.

For some reason, they are giving Romney a free pass. I wonder why.

The reason for that may be that Cain has never held elective office--especially for as many years as Perry.

Cain is a fine man and I'll enthusiastically support him if he's our nominee, but his lack of experience is not a plus.

La Raza Rick is clueless——he’s careening down the precipice into the abyss—nothing will slow his descent into oblivion.

He’s had a zillion chances-——and has tons of money-—— to outline his positions. Instead, he thumbed his nose at Americans, berating those who disagree with him.

Being called heartless does not win friends and influence voters.

And now Ricardo’s whining that he’s being picked on, ignoring the reasons why.

Perry alone among candidates has committed egregious acts——using his elective office against American interests.
