He just walked in? That’s baloney!
If RP's premise about the Middle East and Int'l conflict (ie. interventionism) was true and we could solve all conflicts by backing off and getting out, it would truly be a wonderful thing. But if the premise is wrong (duh) it is catastrophe for us AND the rest of the world.
Similarly, if I were to not save for retirement because I planned to poop gold bricks it would be a wonderful thing for me and my closest friends. Unfortunately it aint gonna happen.
Wait a minute...
I AM counting on Social Security ... almost the same thing.
Maybe.....
NAH!
I'm not here to defend him, but this isn't quite what he said. His point (and I don't agree) was that if we hadn't stirred up trouble in the Middle East, the terrorists wouldn't have come after us. I suppose that is like one of us deliberately walking through a bad Chicago neighborhood at night, causing trouble, and getting beaten. The criminal is responsible, but we should have known better than to go there and cause trouble to begin with. I'm making up this example, but it's based on a long explanation in a book of his that I read.
I understand his point, but I think he is blind to the fact that the jihadis are bent on world domination, and we're in the way. This makes Ron Paul blind to Iran as well. Unfortunately a lot of 9/11 kooks don't see the nuance in what he says, so he becomes a kook magnet and really doesn't do anything to shake off these loons.
Paul is an OBGYN. It is where he works.
These are the types of stories that will turn the tide on legal abortion. The Right needs to learn that we need to win hearts, not arguments. Paul’s story is weary to the soul.

Well, if you do discover how to do that, please let me in on the secret!
IE, “above my pay grade” Seems I’ve heard that somewhere before...
I wondered the same thing. As a physician, he should have taken action or done something to salvage the life of that child.
Doctors are allowed to just wander in and out of surgeries being performed by other doctors? Or abortions? Or births?
Sounds very odd to me.
I was changed that day....I was not a "pro-choice" person after that.
possibly not presently, but he had been doing deliveries for many years when he probably was able to go from surgery room to surgery room to assist, observe? anyhow it makes sense to me.
