12 Awesome Things You Never Knew About Herman Cain
Business Insider ^ | 10/15/2011 | Grace Wyler

Posted on 10/15/2011 8:23:53 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

After months of languishing on the sidelines of the GOP presidential race, Herman Cain has skyrocketed to the top of the national polls and now looks like he might actually be a real contender for the Republican nomination in 2012.

Until Cain and his "9-9-9" tax plan dominated Tuesday's presidential debate and vaulted into the national spotlight, few outside of the Tea Party know much about Cain, other than that he is black and likes pizza. That is largely because, until this week, Cain's presidential campaign was virtually non-existent.

Eschewing the fundraisers and early voting state visits typical of most campaigns, Cain and his staff have spent the last few weeks promoting his book, This Is Herman Cain! My Journey to the White House.

Released last week, the book is now No. 4 of the New York Times bestsellers list. But assuming you haven't picked it up yet, we read it so you don't have to.

The book offers some interesting insight into the candidate's background and what he plans to do if he gets elected to the Oval Office.

ONE INTERESTING EXCERPT TO SHARE:

_________________________

He has already planned out the Cain Doctrine.

As president, Cain would implement the Cain Doctrine, a domestic and foreign policy plan to fix the lapses of the Obama administration.

The “doctrine,” laid out in his book, is pretty straight forward:

* Energy: “I would never go to a foreign country, loan them money, and then tell them we’ll be their best customer.

Under provisions of the Cain Doctrine, we, America, will be our own best customer.” (That’s it for energy.)

* Immigration: Secure the borders by building a fence AND a moat, to be known as “Herman’s Moat.”

* Abortion: Defund Planned Parenthood

* Economy: The 9-9-9 Plan, of course.

* Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid: “Take this entitlement society to an empowerment society” by making cuts.

* Foreign Policy: “If you mess with Israel, you are messing with the United States, is that clear?” He adds that he wants to be briefed on classified intelligence before deciding how to deal with the rest of the Middle East.

I make a lot less than $100K and I live in CA. From what I read Cain’s 999 plan will raise my taxes. Why would I vote for someone who would raise my taxes?

Because if his plan is enacted maybe you will get to keep your job. The current system is bankrupting us all.

Love it!

Heck, I was supporting Cain even before I knew it was gonna cost Bill Maher $1 million when he loses his bet that Cain takes the GOP nomination!

RE: Why would I vote for someone who would raise my taxes?

How sure are you about that? Did you do any detailed calculations taking into account ZERO payroll taxes paid for instance?

The more I read about Mr. Cain, the more impressed I become! We need his kind of leadership, fearlessness, faith and intelligence in the White House. May God bless him and his family.
Just sent his campaign $$. He needs our support!

Why would I vote for someone who would raise my taxes?

Since you have already made up your mind, why are you asking? Would you vote for him if he lowered your taxes?

Do a CLEAN SWEEP of the current IRS tax code. It is corrupt, cumbersome, antiquated and disgusting.

None of us know how much we really pay in taxes. The products and services we buy are already layered with taxes that are passed to us.

If the dem libtards have the guts to completely overhaul our medical care system, we need to have as much spunk to revamp out tax code, God willing we get the chance.

Cain has gone into a lot more depth than what is listed here.

His stance on issues can be found at http://www.hermancain.com/the-issues.
Other places are http://www.hermancainissues.com and http://www.ontheissues.org/2012/Herman_Cain_Energy_+_Oil. (list of all issues at the bottom of the page).

Also, you can read his commentary going back to 2005 at http://www.thinkersvoice.com.

There are videos at http://www.YouTube.com/users/TheHermanCain and podcasts of his radio show at WSB Radio.

I hope that people will look into him themselves rather than relying on the lamestream media to paint a picture of him. The media is trying to Palinize him and many FReepers have jumped on that bandwagon.

Umm, so let me ask you, what $$$ do you pay in taxes?

You state with confidence 9-9-9 would raise your taxes.

Did you know that the plan does away with the payroll tax?

For example, if you make 50k, ( an example given by Cain), you are taxed at 9% or 4500$. Now assume, AFTER that, you spend 100% of your income, or 45,500$. 9 % of that is 4005$. (slightly less than 18%).

The bottom tax rate is > 18%.

So I guess the only complainers are the people who are killing this country (in other words they get back MORE in refunds than they pay in taxes).

Time for you to grow up and pay your taxes. I pay the top rate. Right now 51% are net “suckers” and 49% are contributors.

Why should you vote to raise your taxes? Because if we took 100% of the net worth of EVERY millionare int the US, it would raise < 300 Billion. And Kill our economy. We would be a third world country.

IF you live in the US, you OUGHT to pay taxes, not be a ward of the state, unless you have a REASON you cannot contribute to the system.

Quite being a sucker.

Yes,I would vote for Cain. He is my second choice. But I heard today that my taxes will be raised and I no longer will be able to use my mortgage as a deduction. I understand there would be no capital gains on my 401K which is good but hopefully I won’t have to touch that until I retire.

I wonder whether you are miscalculating the effect of his plan on you. If you work for wages you already pay 15.3% payroll tax on every penny you earn plus income taxes on top of that. The 999 plan would have you paying 9% on what you earn plus 9% on some purchases. For me I think I'll end up paying less.

13. The only candidate who can sing:

To dream ... the impossible dream ...
To fight ... the unbeatable foe ...
To bear ... with unbearable sorrow ...
To run ... where the brave dare not go ...
To right ... the unrightable wrong ...
To love ... pure and chaste from afar ...
To try ... when your arms are too weary ...
To reach ... the unreachable star ...

This is my quest, to follow that star ...
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far ...
To fight for the right, without question or pause ...
To be willing to march into Hell, for a Heavenly cause ...

Thanks. I didn’t know he was a “rocket scientist”, or had a master of Computer Science degree.

I do know he can really sing. A very talented man.

They have talked about taking away the mortgage deduction recently anyway.
YOu heard your taxes will be raised? Where did you hear that?

Californians don’t pay their fair share of anything. As a resident of WA state, I’m real tired of subsidizing the California appetite for energy. Build your own refineries and wind farms and stop depending on energy from other states.

I pay taxes and I am a grown up. I just don’t want to vote for someone who will increase my taxes.
