There is a good half to Ron Paul. If only it was just that good economic half that were running for President I might even be a paulbot sympathizer. As is, his nutty foreign and defense policy positions ruin him and prevent most actual conservatives from taking him seriously.

I like what I see here, other than I’m sure that his trillion dollars in savings involves wiping-out the DOD

It is a good idea to cut spending by $1 trillion, eliminate five cabinet departments (especially Education), etc. However, that simply suggests that paleoPaulie wants to be sure that, when he surrenders our nation to the jihadist Islamofascisti to be part of their world caliphate, it will be in good enough economic shape to please them. I am not impressed nor am I deluded enough to vote for the gutless little pipsqueak!

...while pledging to limit his presidential salary to $39,336, which his campaign says is “approximately equal to the median personal income of the American worker.” The current pay rate for commander in chief is $400,000 a year.

This is a symbolic gesture that could do more harm than good, if it were to be official policy. The only people who would then run for POTUS would have to be those that don't need the money anyway. It would prevent otherwise good people from running for office (for example, a Joe the Plummer type).

Sorry Rep. Paul. I believe that people should be compensated for the value they bring to the job or in line with the difficulty of the job. $400K for POTUS is appropriate.

The symbolic gesture only promotes more class warfare.

Is this where we check in to bash Paul?

"..presidential salary to $39,336.."

This just PROVES he is a nut-case!

Only 5 cabinet agencies? Piker...

NASA, FCC, FAA, DEA, EPA, BATFE, DoE, SSI, DHS, TSA.... Just to name a few.

There are more listed here: http://www.usa.gov/directory/federal/index.shtml

If they aren't covered by Art 1 Sec 8, they need to go. Period. No excuses. Not even "good" excuses.

It a good plan to get the country back on track again. I think it should go further but a good start. Would like to compare it to the other Republicans running when they give their plans.

From the Politico article on this. He’ll say that his plan for $1 trillion in cuts will create a balanced federal budget by the third year of his presidency.
