Poll: Perry now down to … three percent in Florida
Hot Air ^ | 10/17/2011 | Allahpundit

Last month, Insider Advantage had him leading Romney in the state 29/20. A month later, “He now barely has a heartbeat.”

When I saw Perry’s topline number of three percent, I figured the “Ponzi scheme” talk must have sent Florida’s seniors running screaming into the night. Not so. He’s actually doing (marginally) worse with other age demographics in this poll, and in the last poll he did reasonably well with the 65+ crowd, finishing second to Romney in that group with almost 23 percent. That poll was taken on September 13, which was almost a week after Romney started attacking him on Social Security, so if entitlement chatter is what’s driving this, you would have expected to see some of that show up in last month’s data. What’s killing him here, I assume, is the same thing that’s killing him everywhere — his crack about the base’s “heartlessness” on immigration plus general disappointment that the anointed Romney-killer in the race has ended up making Romney look better and better with his debate performances thus far.

“Our” is absolutely right. I’m a Republican who happens to be conservative...but still a Republican. Your choice is not running under your distorted banner. He’s running under the Republican banner and I’m glad to have him. What do you teach in that home school, for God’s sake? Generations of my family fought so we would have freedom to decide. No one shoves anything down our throats and calls it American or calls us disgusting for having a different opinion than you. You would destroy a cadidate with your foolish jumping up and down like a kid instead of just not voting for him. Your words read like those of a rapper. The good will many of us feel for our governor is earned. Texas is a hard state to govern just as Arizona is. Grow up. We’re supposed to be on the same team.

LOL! I haven’t seen groupies like that since the 6th grade crush all the girls had on our 5th hour student teacher.

To me he sounds like GWB (speech style, not just the accent)and yet looks like an older and more tired version of him. One thing I’ll say was that at least when GWB stammered, it was in the middle of a sentence he was going to complete and not just yammering. A friend of mine and I watched the debate and my friend exclaimed, “Well, he did it!” “What?” I said. “He managed to talk so long without saying anything that I forgot the question.” I then realized that I, too, could no longer remember the question, but knew that he had said nothing, like a true politician.

Besides, then the Paul supporters could line up around the fence frying drug mules and just sniff the air, get high, and we wouldn’t need to worry about them mucking up the primaries. Not to mention the frizzled korans and terrorist handbooks. Four birds with a few volts.

“I think what his wife did in SC put the nail in his coffin.”

Yeah. I wasn’t too pleased with that either. BUT they are a very strong Christian family. It dictates what they say and how they act. I’m pretty sure she was being sincere in her belief. I can understand people not liking it though. As far as keeping his word, Palin and others in the past have made this kind of decision. It’s not a sin.
As far as the Paul Ryan commercial goes,it’s a non-starter. He never mouthed the words that he would push grammie over a cliff in her wheelchair. Cain spoke the words. I know it was a joke.

Perry swallowed a heartless cyanide pill on immigration and he is done. Let other candidates beware when they touch on this subject.

“BUT they are a very strong Christian family. It dictates what they say and how they act.”

So how Christian is it...and how cynical do you have to be, to stand on a national stage and LIE about a dead woman to justify and excuse possibly the second worst blunder perry ever made?
If you think that was lost on voters, you are sadly mistaken.

“A political party is not a master, for God’s sake.”

Then perhaps you should rethink your position on the republican party, because it seems that is exactly what you are saying.

How he gets elected is the real Texas Miracle.

It's simple, really. Perry keeps winning re-election in Texas because the alternatives have been even worse than him. No miracle there, as any Texan will tell you.

She may have been sincere, but she was incredibly out of touch with reality and had no reason to be stressed. If she believes Perry was being attacked for his faith and not for his record or beliefs or the groups he's addressed or supported, then she needs to go spend a few weeks in a private spa somewhere. Perry would be, at most, a distant fourth behind Romney, Huntsman, and Bachmann when it comes to attacks on candidates based on faith. For her to accuse Republicans of bashing him over religion is just plain crazy. People criticized him because he didn't give much money, but it was nowhere near the amount of criticism over the things he says and believes that have nothing to do with religion.

It's bad enough that she's been telling people that she was the one who pushed Rick into running, but criticizing Republicans for bashing him over religion...

Texas is a hard state to govern

Total BS. The position is basically a figure head. What utter nonsense. No wonder you are supporting this liberal. You both are the same (along with Romney and Obama).

...if the suckers want to secede-—I say go for it. Who needs their dam barbecue, anyway?

You're not really a Texas hater, are you, Liz? That'd be a shame.

Before your next smart arse comment you should tell us why deadly force in defense of our border is wrong.

Second time now I have asked on this thread.

You mean gunning down unarmed Mexicans or armed Mexicans crossing the border? Please be more specific so I can answer the right question.

It is immoral by all standards to use deadly force against unarmed people.
