WASHINGTON -- Michelle Obama will be raising campaign cash for President Barack Obama's 2012 re-election campaign at a $5,000-a-plate New Orleans fund-raiser on Nov. 1.

The luncheon, hosted by actor Wendell Pierce, star on HBO's "Treme," will be held at the New Orleans Audubon Place home of Jill and Avie Glazer. Avie Glazer is part of a family that owns the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Manchester United soccer team in England. Jill Glazer is on the board of Tulane University.

Wait, a Chocolate City? Was that what Nagin called it?

Of well, if it involves food, Moochie will be there.

Consider this RSVP’d.

Look for a Seafood shortage after Moochelle’s visit. I wonder how many dozen Acme Oysters she could eat...or Po-boy’s for that matter.

I don’t get it. Supposedly one can only give $2,500 per election. So how do they get away with paying $5,000 for one plate of lousy food? We the people are so stupid.

And where is OWS? Anyone paying that much for a dinner certainly isn’t part of the 99%.

New Orleans is the last place in America to expect an
“Occupy” contingent to form. I just left there Wednesday,
after nearly a week. Regardless of the lingering politics there, it’s still let the good times roll, and I would be surprised if more than a handful could be gathered.
And Timmy Riley’s sign featuring Obama in a diaper with the
words “CHANGE ME!” AND “I STINK” is still there (verified by
me last Friday) in front of his house, whose fence is also plastered with CAIN FOR PRESIDENT signs. Riley’s house is on
Calhoun Street just a few yards from St. CHarles. The streetcar stops right there. The house is pretty close to Audobon Park, about a half mile up Jefferson ...it’s become a mini-attraction, with people stopping their cars to take pix of it. But “Occupy” in New Orleans? Probably a better chance of getting a Mosque built at this point.Right after he put it up and before it was reported on local TV news,Riley’s sign drew about 50 ‘angry neighbors’ and a visit by former Mayor Ray Nagin, who talked with Riley to no avail. The overwhelming sentiment of ALL THE OTHER neighbors was that it was free speech and they shouldn’t put any pressure on Riley to take it down because it’s “disrespectful”.

Then the Obama campaign should be paying for her trip, not the taxpayers.

More information please. I left there 5 days ago.
If they have a presence there, they’re not drawing many
from the local population.
Where do they congregate?

I stand corrected-—I just looked it up. Looks like my arrival and theirs perfectly coincided. I was there for a wedding, and unless I just wasn’t paying attention (didn’t really watch much tv) it just didn’t seem to register with me. Or maybe I saw something on TV and assumed it was Occupy New York coverage ( which is in my own backyard).
Funny thing is about New Orleans, even if the Occupiers occupy Duncan Park, I can’t see either them OR the police turning violent, and I don’t see mass arrests like in NY.
Funny, I say, and ironic, because of NOLA’s reputation for
“lawlessness”.

Occupy has been in nola for over a week.

That bunch is the most "off-message" of any so far. They're hollering about "prison reform" more than anything.
