Thanks Eleutheria5.
The criticism came after it became clear that the released terrorists included those who had murdered Jews with United States citizenship. Earlier on Tuesday, [the Kenya-born Muzzie] had said he was pleased with the deal that set Shalit free... also expressed the hope Israel and officials in Ramallah would take the steps necessary to return to the negotiating table. Previously, US secretary of state Hillary Clinton also praised Israel for negotiating with terrorists to secure Shalit's release... Sarkozy... opined Shalit's French citizenship helped keep him alive. He added that Gilad will visit France soon.

1700 terrorists for ONE Israeli? Seems like an incredible incentive for the Palistinians/Hamas to INCREASE taking Irsraelis hostage. Why wasn’t it one for one? I’m stunned that Israel agreed to this. Or am I missing something?

Actually, it was 1027 terrorists for one Israeli.

Which means it was one terrorist for one Israeli, and

1026 terrorists for free.

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count...

MSM reporting “Palestinians” or “Palestinian fighters” released.

Not “Islamic terrorists” or even “Hamas terrorists”.

MSM reporters including those of Fox only refer to Hamas as “militants”, not terrorists.

Pathetic, absolutely pathetic.

What a bunch of flip flopping hypocrites. I wish the US government( not for, "We The People")would start LISTENING to us, and get off Israel's back! They're lame a__ed dry humping the State of Israel is sickening then they wizz on them afterward. Does anyone yet know Israel is damned if they do and damned if they don't. Demonizing Israel is more in vogue than the 1930's because it's now international. Gads this is sickening.

Glad to see that Shalit is in fact back with his family, though he looks very thin in the photo accompanying the posted article.

But on the other hand, the release of the hundreds of convicted terrorist murderers is cause for grave concern for the future of Israel and the western world.

BTW, the subject of negotiating prisoner exchanges with terrorists came up on the GOP presidential debate last night.

What you say is true. However even if you are going to negotiate, it is a better policy to say not only will you not negotiate with terrorist, but that any captive held for more than 72 hours will be considered dead.

Of course any country and its people and especially the family of the victim aches at the kidnapping - kidnapping is especially bruising because it hurts the ego in the sense that the enemy got in close and grabbed you, unlike being shot from 100 yards or bombed and also because of the unknown, is he dead or alive?

So the policy needs to be you have 72 hours to turn him over, or we consider him dead and go after you.

Israel has been very nice to Hamas. Way too nice. I know there is a lot more to it that is unreported and not commented on. I discussed it a few weeks ago - Israel’s deal with Hamas raises Hamas politically among the Pals and damages PLO/PA politically. This is in part a way to punish PLO/PA by embarrassing them for going to the UN. It is a no-win situation for PLO/PA. If they want to appear more tough then they have to get violent and that will ostracize them from the UN and Europe. If they do nothing then they look weak because they lost at the UN and also Hamas looks like the Pals heroes.

I will have to dig up my previous post (many pages ago) because it was a lot more clear about how this deal is as much strategic and political as it is tactical and humanitarian.
