Perry Can Still Win
MSNBC/The Daily Beast ^ | Oct 19, 2011 | Matt Latimer

Undoubtedly a team of scientists already has been dispatched to Las Vegas to study the phenomenon that tens of thousands of startled CNN viewers saw firsthand Tuesday night. For the first time in the five years since he launched his methodical, by-the-numbers, always placid, PowerPoint-inspired campaign for the presidency of the United States, an emoticon crossed Mitt Rombot's faceplate. In layman's terms, the former governor short-circuited. Even more surprising, the first person ever to dent that metallic exterior was the same one politicos had confidently written off only a few weeks ago.

Yes, Rick Perry - who in two months was transformed by the punditry from political sage to political sap - pulled off the feat that John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, and Fred Thompson could never muster: getting under Romney's skin. Despite glowing reviews, Perry's was not an award-winning debate performance to be sure; one hopes someone will tell him to quit calling Herman Cain "brother." Yet his all but inevitable campaign comeback has commenced.

Do you really want to beat Romney?

Support and vote Perry.

Beat Romney with Perry? That’s like rooting for terminal cancer vs a massive coronary.

No thanks.

If you want to give Romney the nomination, support Perry. And for the love of all that is holy, if you want to lose to Obama, support La Raza Rick.

I think Romney was starting to think he was invincible, since the other candidates were not attacking him. This really took him by surprise - he couldn’t believe it. I loved every minute of it!

Thank you Gov. Perry!

Is this the same Perry who gave illegals $100,000 tuition break? Is this the same Perry who refuses to build a fence? Is this the same Perry who was Al Gore’s campaign manager scant 10 years ago?

Thanks, but no thanks. We do not need RINO’s.

The only thing going for Perry right now is he seems to have a ground game in early states and a boat load of cash. Who knows, with the 58 other debates scheduled in 2 weeks, he may smooth out his performance.

Do you really believe that EITHER romney or perry looked GOOD in that debate? OMG! They were completely off the rails. They embarrassed everyone else on that stage, not to mention the entire republican party. What is the matter with you? Surely you can’t think this helped perry. Can you? Really?

They obviously didn’t watch Frank Luntz and his focus group on Hannity tonight.

A large part of the focus group didn’t like Perry at all after last night.

Sounds like MSDNC is trying to pick the weakest candidate to run against Obama.

I’m no fan of either of these guys, Perry or Romney.

Neither are conservatives.

Perry was the one who lost the debate, came out looking ridiculous with his cheap shot and definitely not presidential. Romney only won supporters because of Perry's antics, according to a focus group.

Cain is my choice and I thought he, Romney, and Newt did the best in the debate. As stupid as Perry appears, I would still pick him over Obama.

Yeah, "Bro" would be much better!

“Is this the same Perry who was Al Gore’s campaign manager scant 10 years ago?”

I guess math is not your strong suit. Perry reregistered as a Republican in 1989, that was 22 years ago. (Perry was 39 at the time)

BTW,did you know that Ronald Reagan was 51 years old, when he changed parties to become a Republican?

Unfortunately, I want to send Romney back to Massghanistan and Perry back to Austin. I don’t just want to be Romney. I also want to beat Perry.

I think the Democrats would love to have Perry up against Obama as it would clearly insure an Obama landslide. Perry can’t debate is not articulate , looks like a deer in the headlights, has slow reaction time and would probably put the nation to sleep.Frankly I get the strong impression that he is just plain dumb and stupid.

You may not realize it, but we are electing a President of the USA, NOT a “Debater-in-Chief”.
