Rick Perry gets his swagger back
Sacramento Bee ^ | oct 19, 2011 | Bud Kennedy/Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Gov. Rick Perry is back in the saddle.

Zeroing in on Mitt Romney like a prairie varmint and telling Herman Cain that they'll be "bumpin' tax plans" soon, Perry rode back into the middle of the Republican presidential race Tuesday night with some of his old swagger and his saddlebags still full of cash.

Ten weeks and four more TV debates away from the Iowa caucuses and the launch of election season, Perry remains the Anti-Romney.

If you're a Republican who can't stomach a former Massachusetts governor as the nominee, Perry has $17 million to win your vote between now and spring.

“Texas, under Perry, on the other hand created as many jobs as all the other 49 states put together.”

I think beating that drum, when the facts of where these jobs went, to whom, and their level of pay is enough to put that drum silent...and the voters are learning it's not all that it's been cracked up to be.

Additionally if Perry doesn't get his act together on debating Obama will cream his machine.

Did you know that closing unprofitable stores was and is a good thing?

Why in the hell should anyone keep a red ledger operation open if there is no hope?

I’ve closed a few myself.

That’s life.

That was his job and that is the job of any CEO and CFO is to figure out what is salvageable and cut the dead weight so the ship can right itself.

Well now MB hasn’t been attacked by Mitt, has she? Could it be she hasn’t done anything of interest and is only there to be his buffer? MB. And she has never attacked him or his mittcare. She just tells us not to worry - obamacare will be repealed as to drop the concern about gov’t healthcare so it won’t be a subject mitt has to deal with.

How would you like to be on the podium w/Mitt and trying to present what you would do for our country while Mitt is making accusations and snide comments to you. I doubt if you would let it slide and allow the audience to think it’s true. Mitt, the agitator, has nothing to offer and he can’t claim his past because it was so liberal, that the man - he claims he can beat - copied his ‘claim to fame’ - gov’t healthcare.

Rule of thumb in any restaurant chain: 80% of your problems are caused by 20% of your stores.

Probably holds true for any retail chain, I would imagine.

Please re-read your post and think about it for a minute....closing nonproductive stores improves the business, Cain did not "close a business", he protected it.

That said, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable voting for him - the only candidates on last night's show that came off well were Newt (gasp) and Rep Bachman (still needs work).

“No one goes into business to create jobs. The only reason anyone ever goes into business is to make money. And the only reason a businessman would ever hire somebody is if he helps him make MORE money.”

Nice contradiction. You sound like those hippies on Wall Street.

Job creation is a result of someone risking their money by starting a business to make money. Making money results in most business owners expanding their businesses and hiring more people, creating more jobs, expanding the tax base, creating a positive economic cycle, and so on.

Do you think business owners, who often work 18 hours a day (Owning a business is 24/7) have it easy?

They risk their investment, put in long hours, have far more responsibilities than their workers and they create jobs.

IDK why you even posted what you did, as you are stating the obvious, and talking as if creating jobs is a bad thing.

“No one goes into business to create jobs. The only reason anyone ever goes into business is to make money. And the only reason a businessman would ever hire somebody is if he helps him make MORE money. Until this simple truth is accepted and embraced (instead of vilified) there will never be job creation.

By cutting expenses and eliminating the non performing restaurants, he made the remaining ones healthy (saving lots of jobs), which allowed him to improve product and service and grow his business, make more money (and add more jobs).”

Sounds like Cain did the same kind of cost cutting, pairing down, that Romney did at Bain Capital. Interesting. But both of them being businessmen, it makes sense.

Good point - if Cain didn’t close some Godfather’s franchises, the company would have gone under and all of the workers would have lost their jobs.

Sometimes you have to make tough choices and break a few eggs to make an omelet.

Cain knows business. He knows how to create jobs and how to save jobs, not just claim to do so like Obama does.

Rick Perry gets his swagger back

lol! Only a 3%er would consider dropping in the polls getting his 'swagger back'.

La Raza Rick's dropped another .3% in less than 24 hours, from 12.9 to 12.6. Keep on swaggering La Raza Rick! lol!

If you want to gauge which candidate the Dems fear the most, check out the lib papers like SFGate, which has gone from writing daily Palin hit pieces to writing daily Cain hit pieces.

Oh my gosh...those debates could charge for tickets and people would pay to see it! I doubt west would take any of Newt’s bull when he gets high on the hog as he could dleiver it right back...takes alot to impress Newt but I think West has done just that...he has most who have been watching him for a time. I have been doing just and enjoyed the ride so far...West is a force to be met...and will hold his own under fire.
