Helloo, he was cutting PRIVATE sector jobs. He didn’t turn the business around by making it do better, he closed restaurants. Anyone can close businesses — what we need is NEW businesses and jobs.
The point is, he knows how to turn something that is failing around, to make it successful. If he can do it in the private sector, he can do it in gov’t. (Thought that was clear).
If government shrinks, the private sector is empowered, and job creators can get back to what they do best - create jobs, not deal with endless gov’t. regulations and mandates. Government doesn’t create jobs, and that would not be Cain’s responsibility. His part would be in cutting government.
That said, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable voting for him - the only candidates on last night's show that came off well were Newt (gasp) and Rep Bachman (still needs work).
Note -- he shut down branches that were underperforming and concentrated on those that WERE performing. That is supporting the existing business. The alternative would be that ALL the branches would be shut down. Which is preferable?
Yes, it doesn't directly translate into public sector at first glance, but if you look at this, we have a lot of areas that government should just NOT be in and have a huge budget deficit. Cut the flab from government. That is what Cain can do.
