“Walking on Forbidden Drive without a gun?
Maybe he should have thought about that.”

He was attacked from behind and probably would not have been able to get to his gun even if he had one. He should have had a gun and been walking his German Shepherd, which would have warned him of the imminent attack.

You're right, generally, with what you've said. But if we begin to expect 84 year old's to maintain "situational awareness and scanning 360* frequently" while simply walking around, well that's just not an acceptable society.

We're living in an active combat zone at that point.

Good thing this isn’t monday of this week...
Threads were getting pulled for alluding to this particular topic (cultural devolution amongst those of a certain ethnicity).

"Problem with that is, he was operating in "condition white" (oblivious of surroundings). His first indication of attack was when he was hit.

When armed, you need to operate in "condition yellow" (relaxed alertness), especially when in "Indian Country", otherwise being armed is useless. You need to maintain awareness of potential threats in all directions. "

The above is the best comment in this thread, IMHO.

I have a new Ruger LCP in .380 and also one of the first P90s(.45 ACP) with the DeCocker which I think is a 1992 model. Both of these pistols required a lot of strength to cock from a hammer down position. The P-90 has been remedied by grinding a 1/16” radius where the slide contacts the hammer on opening, and is very easy to cock, but the LCP is still hard on the arthritis and would not be my first choice if I had to buy another one.

Jim Shea, a former vice president of university relations for Temple, from 1968 to 1983,

VERY good chance he was a liberal then and maybe still is

I know the UW prof that was on the receiving end of the outrage over his use of the word “niggardly” in the classroom.

Big lib. Didn’t learn anything.

Another gang attack of young blacks on a single white person.

This stuff isn’t going to go unanswered much longer.

Obama is hoping too.

They’ll only report it if the victims fight back and injure/kill one or more of the black attackers.

Please, our culture hasn’t devolved. The black culture is becoming dominant.

>I’m all for concealed carry, but I’m also for being alert to ones surroundings when outside one’s abode.<

Very true. But, when most folks hit their ‘80’s they have a significant loss of hearing, possibly sight and a slowdown in their reflexes.

We as a society need to hit back at those who target the elderly. They need to be put away until they, too are so old they can no longer fight back.

Yes.

When visiting the local Congo wasteland, formerly known as the productive Downtown area, my head is on a swivel.

My pop taught me long ago...to be very aware of what is going on around you. Maybe it was his USMC experience. I dunno.

But I can tell you for certain...it's kept me safe.

I have a better solution....

Most of them are to fat to fit in the holster, too.
