With the approval of the Obama administration, an electric car company that received a $529 million federal government loan guarantee is assembling its first line of cars in Finland, saying it could not find a facility in the United States capable of doing the work.

Vice President Joseph Biden heralded the Energy Department's $529 million loan to the start-up electric car company called Fisker as a bright new path to thousands of American manufacturing jobs. But two years after the loan was announced, the job of assembling the flashy electric Fisker Karma sports car has been outsourced to Finland.

"There was no contract manufacturer in the U.S. that could actually produce our vehicle," the car company's founder and namesake told ABC News. "They don't exist here."

Monty Python: Finland
Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Pony trekking or camping,
Or just watching TV.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
It’s the country for me.

You’re so near to Russia,
So far from Japan,
Quite a long way from Cairo,
Lots of miles from Vietnam.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Eating breakfast or dinner,
Or snack lunch in the hall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.

You’re so sadly neglected
And often ignored,
A poor second to Belgium,
When going abroad.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
Your mountains so lofty,
Your treetops so tall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
Your mountains so lofty,
Your treetops so tall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.

Finland has it all

Appropriate when you think about it since the same could be said of potential "customers" for these stupid little toy cars.

Great racket. Get a US gov. loan to build an electric car from the idiots here and then claim “there are no factories to build it here”, then outsource it oversees.

The loan should immediately be rescinded for breach of contract.

Maybe the idiots looking at the company for a loan approval should have required some type of presentation whereby, oh I don’t know, ACTUALLY SEEING A DAMNED FACTORY FIRST.

Why can the government loan out money it does not have? In many states, the govt cannot even extend its credit rating to a private company. The US govt sets its credit rate, borrows the money from future borrowing, then gives it to a company not bound by American rules or laws. This is pitchfork sharpening stuff. No election of a new President will fix what is wrong with the R/D monopoly. Only a reset to the original principles of the Constitution will do.

Does anyone believe for one minute that Fisker didn’t know there was no ‘facility here in the USA’ that could produce his cars BEFORE he got the loan.????

It just gets worse & worse.

Criminal indictments have to come SOON.

Finland is a small country, smaller than Montana, and with a population of 5 1/4 million people - just a few more than Colorado...

The USA is a country of over 300 million people and the most highly developed country in the world...

...and these people expect us to buy the story we can't find someplace in America to manufacture these vehicles?

I could kinda get on board with this project if it put Americans to work—but not if its being built in another land. Why should American money be spent to put Finns to work? Why couldn’t it be built here? We have enough closed factories and skilled labor? Sounds corrupt to me.

Obviously they’re lying.
The Detroit area has many prototype / low production outfits.
That’s where the US automotive infrastructure is located.

Relax, it's a loan guarantee. So, only in the unlikely event that the company goes under, we taxpayers would have to pay. And Obama's gang of criminals will only receive about half of the money in the form of kickbacks. Thanks tobyhill.
