The FBI Announces Gangs Have Infiltrated Every Branch Of The Military

The FBI has released a new gang assessment announcing that there are 1.4 million gang members in the US, a 40 percent increase since 2009, and that many of these members are getting inside the military (via Stars and Stripes).

The report says the military has seen members from 53 gangs and 100 regions in the US enlist in every branch of the armed forces. Members of every major street gang, some prison gangs, and outlaw motorcycle gangs (OMGs) have been reported on both US and international military installation

I was a Navy drill instructor in the early 80’s and had “gangs” then too.

In one company of recruits fully half of them had come from the New York City area. At least 10 of them were gang members and knew each other. They tried to take over the company. We ended up discharging 7 of the 10 and split the other 3 up into different companies.

At that time a high school diploma was not an absolute requirement as it is now.

Gang members have to integrate into the unit. Those who can’t are quickly identified and removed - at least they were when I was there.

And if they are in the military what is the issue? That they will steal an armory of weapons and go on a rampage or start a mutiny on a Navy destroyer and blow up a city?

Ive seen these punks in the military and most of them don’t last long they end up going awol or desert the military. They are punks and cannot take the disciplineand regimentation. The ones I worry about are the ones recruitied ny gangs and radicals after they have been in the military awhile.

A positive thinker - I like that.

Off subject: Obama says the military leaving Iraq will ‘be home for the holidays’. He did not say ‘Home for Christmas’.

Gangs are the new militias. They are armed, and have internal structure and discipline. Normal people have been discouraged from cooperative defensive and offensive activities. They are demonized and persecuted if they even come close to forming something resembling a community defensive organization.

Unfortunately, the gangs are often more criminally self-serving than community spirited, although it’s not a black and white line.

Law abiding 2A supporters everywhere need to know these numbers.

1.4 million gang members, who are armed, comfortable with violence and occupy terrain (urban terrain) that produces the most casualties in an armed conflict.

We are most likely going to come into swift and sure collision with these enemies at some point.

The war on drugs continues to feed this beast, with the numbers jumping significantly in the last year. American policy makers have allowed the “war on drugs” to continue without a plan to win it and now we have drug gang members in the ranks of our services and law enforcement, much of it because of necessity of troop strength or affirmative action hires.

Also keep in mind that half of those 1.4 m gangmembers are Latino/Hispanic. If they put drug war rivalries aside, and are rallied behind some charismatic leadership or common cause, that is a significant armed occupation force within the borders of the US.

ORGANIZED CRIME is the more correct terminology.

Perhaps he means that our Jewish troops will be “home for the Holidays.” The military isn’t just composed of Christians. No point in insulting our Jewish troops, right?

Better to make the Catholic troops upset. I just read that 40% of our current Armed Forces are of Mexican descent. Can this possibly be correct? How are they going to like being sent down into Mexico to fight drug gangs, as Perry is advocating?

We had a bar complete with bar brawls with regular gangs coming and going in the 1960`s.

The Army used to call us up and ask us who were the toughest in the gangs with their fists. When we told them it was so and so, they said, ``Those are the guys we want.``

One of them received the Medal of Honor in Vietnam for killing 40 VC`s with a from-the-hip machine gun defense of his company atop the APC- saved `em all.

No kidding.

Part of the problem is citizenship for sale - serve in the military and your are a citizen in just three years. That brings in the Latin American gangsters. Relying on foreigners for their soldiers is one thing that brought the Romans down.

Then there are the native-born black gangsters and I suppose some white ones too.

I guess we either need a draft, or to not fight so many wars that we have to scrape the barrel.

I had a friend at Bragg who said there were numerous gang members in the Army. Some really wanted to get away from the life. Others wanted to learn tactics, get out, and bring them back to their gangs. From what he said, all of the enlisted men knew who the gang members were and which category they fell into.

It is true. And probably a little yellow journalism over-reaction also.

Old news. We had the same issues back in the 90’s. Gangs were sending their members into the military to get the training, then return to civilian life where they could put that training to nefarious use. We even had gang members in Special Forces.
