Full Title: Cain clarifies again: Abortion shouldnt be legal, but some families might decide to break the law anyway.
A better answer than yesterdays spin attempt but Mediaite is right that it still doesnt jibe with what he said to Piers Morgan. Then:
No, it comes down to is, its not the governments role or anybody elses role to make that decision. Secondly, if you look at the statistical incidents, youre not talking about that big a number. So what Im saying is, it ultimately gets down to a choice that that family or that mother has to make. Not me as president. Not some politician. Not a bureaucrat. It gets down to that family. And whatever they decide, they decide. I shouldnt try to tell them what decision to make for such a sensitive decision
The government shouldnt be trying to tell people everything to do, especially when it comes to a social decision that they need to make.
Now:
Look, abortion should not be legal. That is clear. But if that family makes the decision to break the law, thats that familys decision. Thats all Im trying to say.
Big difference between (a) the government shouldnt tell you what to do about sensitive social decisions and (b) the government should tell you what to do by criminalizing one of your options. In fact, per Heinze at the The Hill and Philip Klein at the Examiner, even in todays answer theres an element of choice insofar as Cain suggests that a pregnant woman might end up breaking the law to get an illegal abortion. Thats, er, true some of them would end up doing that but its an odd note for a man in his position to sound. Rarely do would-be presidents acknowledge lawbreaking as an option

Who's your candidate?
You prove he didn’t - if he’s your candidate. And I know nothing of that site you mention.
“Cain voted for Obama”
Please cite your source on this.
Good luck with that, he won’t.
you have no credibility, you are a liar
The entire transcript is all over FR, why would someone post a partial, carefully edited, quote? Not to shed any light on the truth.
are you equating hanging blacks with abortion? and if you are, please tell me, genius, what that has to do with Cain’s clarification?
“Cain, who is the most consistently pro-life candidate ...”
I don’t see how you read the last paragraph quoted in the article as pro-life. If you read the whole thing, it sounds very much like John Kerry’s “I personally oppose it but support choice” position. Maybe there’s text before or after that clarifies things.
And no, I haven’t picked a candidate yet.
Abortion IS legal. He is saying that if it was NOT legal then he couldn't stop someone from breaking the law. OK. That applies to all laws. Duh. Why is Cain saying all this nonsense? The more he talks about abortion the worse he gets. He should just shut up about abortion, get off the defense and start attacking liberals.
That’s what I mean. And they get away with the lie.
Actually Santorum is a solid guy, scoring 100% on social issues and highly underestimated. His ‘support’ of sphincter over Toomey was at the request of Pres. Bush who felt that an incumbent was safer than a maybe. He didn’t like it but...
Remember how all that pastor Jeffress stuff slowly leaked out over time? It’s going to be one heck of an election cycle.
Freegards
Where is the proof for this? The only place that I can even find this mentioned is on a rumor post on a ron paul forum saying “someone said”.
a better comparison would be to Romney’s abortion views, not Kerry’s, focus on the primary, pal.
Please post your proof or get the hell off FreeRepublic. We don't need libelous liars like you.
More of this lying BS? Where do all you dishonest scumballs come from?
Because he was POINTEDLY asked that question DIRECTLY by Martha McCallum on Fox. THAT’S why.
I thought Free Republic was a pro-life forum. JimRob, you around?
Is that comment an insination that Pastor Jeffress wasn't speaking the truth about the differences between Mormans and Christians?
