Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann on Sunday joined the chorus of GOP contenders lambasting President Obama for his decision to withdraw nearly all troops from Iraq by the end of the year. She contended that the United States had been "kicked out" of the country "by the very people we liberated," and that the decision was "more politically-based than military-based."
Bachmann, in an appearance on CBS' "Face the Nation," said it would be unwise to withdraw troops from the country while its political status remained tenuous, and argued that "if you look at every time we have deposed a dictator, the United States has always left troops behind to be able to enforce the fragile peace."
Host Bob Schieffer asked Bachmann, "Do you think, congresswoman, that the American people, with the budget situation the way it is, really want to keep a large contingent of American troops in iraq indefinitely?"
"Of course not. No one wants to do that," she replied, but said there should be a temporary transition."
"We're going from the point of leaving to leaving zero troops behind," Bachmann said. "Once we're finished in Iraq, we'll have more troops in Honduras than we'll be leaving behind in Iraq."

However, I can't believe the U.S. will not even have a base in Iraq. It appears the ubama administration's foreign policy agenda is to undo the progress made by Bush-Cheney.
Amen to that. After hearing what she had to say to the NH House a couple weeks ago, I was convinced that she is not really that serious a candidate at this point. She mailed it in that day and quite poorly.

The political status in that area has been tenuous for 2000 years and our trillion dollars and thousands of lives in eight years can only do so much.
It is now up to the Iraqis to use their vast oil wealth and the training and equipment we have provided to secure their own country.
Lets see this POS use this same line of questioning when the topic is Obamacare, illegal immigration or Obama's "job" bill.
With these leftist monkeys money is only a concern where national security is at issue.
Yes, I remember that this was agreed upon in 2008, before Bush left office so the drawdown date is nothing new.
However, the remaining troop strength (advisory capacity) was open to negotiation and this was where Urkel & Co. failed. There are no statesmen in the bunch and this is full out retreat rather than an enhanced diplomatic relationship. We did a lot for that country and we can ask a lot. They didn’t do it.
I link this “failure” with the Ubama refusal to intervene in Iran puppet Syria unrest, the likely rise of Iran influence in Iraq and the Iran nuclear warheads aimed at Israel.
It’s not shaping up as a U.S.- or Israel-friendly picture. Our president is supposed to make other nations friendly toward us, not the opposite.
How many more trillions of our dollars should we spend in Iraq?
And what would you set as benchmarks for the current Iraq government to reach before we leave Iraq?

She’s essentially correct. They don’t want us there and I think its a fear of what Obama will do next that has created the situation.
Hell, I don’t want us there either but Obama has us leaving both Iraq and Afghanistan on less than friendly terms.

I hear you. This is a totally different U.S. team than they dealt with before. Bush had the diplomacy going; Hussein Ubama hasn’t. Alliances need cultivation. We don’t necessarily agree with allies on everything but acknowledge ways we need each other, a realistic “friendship.”
Among other things, Ubama’s making the world less safe for Americans.
It seems like Obama his ignored the allies created under Bush while stirring radicalism on their borders.
I sure wouldn’t want to be an American ally at this point because Obama seems to go out of his way to insult them or worse.
In a sense, Obama is giving the Bush administration the proverbial finger but under the cover of simply agreeing to do what the Bush administration agreed to. Unless Iraq goes bad very quickly, which is hardly a remote possibility with Iran salivating over the opportunity to expand their Islamic empire and conquer Iraq, the troop withdrawal will help Obama. However, with the U.S. economy doing so poorly, mostly as a result of his and Democrat policies that are at the core of the original recession (think Dodd-Franks), simply following the path to U.S. troop withdrawal in Iraq laid down by the Bush administration will not save Obama's failed presidency. Again, should Iraq descend into war and chaos within the next year, Obama will be held accountable for his almost-complete U.S. troop withdrawal. It's a gamble that he is obviously willing to take.
Even if Obama 'wins' his Iraq gamble, it won't be enough. Nothing will. Americans are suffering economically and Obama does little but make speeches, point fingers at Republicans, propose a ridiculous 'jobs' bill that is really a tax bill and when even Democrats reject it, he whines. Not a leader and not re-electable, no matter what nonsense the MSM tries to sell us on Obama's re-election chances. No matter who the GOP nominates as Obama's opponent he will be a one-term president, and rightfully so.
I couldn’t agree with you more. It just urkels me that the press is helping 0bungles lie about being the one who is taking our troops out of Iraq. I wish our GOP pols wouldn’t help them further that BS.

I wonder what kind of deal we really made? China gets the oil and we get more loans? the US dollar remains the official reserve currency? we get bent over and sodomized?
