In 1988, you supported Al Gores presidential campaign. Why? In that group, he was by far the most conservative Democrat. But between Ronald Reagan and seeing what the Democrat Party was becoming, I came to the conclusion in 1989 that I needed to become a Republican.
Have you seen the film An Inconvenient Truth? No, maam.
Have you read the book? No. I generally dont watch or read a lot of fiction.

From the looks of it, he hates to win too.
We’ve gotta back somebody. Palin’s out. Who does that leave? Looks like Cain or Perry. Cain seems likeable and conservative enough but at least parts of his “999” plan looks like “911.” Perry’s simple “flat tax” approach looks better but Perry keeps shooting himself in the foot. But if we don’t get behind either one or the other of these guys, Romney steals the show.
I’ll go with Cain.
I’m going run as fast as I can from a guy who gives illegals more consideration than United States Citizens.
Plus I just can’t bring myself to overcome Perry’s affiliation with Al Gore. In 1988 Gore was into Global Warming and a liberal Democrat. How can I support someone that endeared these core principles?
But I guess his new Professional Political Hacks will be able to spin this for Perry!
I bet it will be a Romney/Perry ticket. Two peas in a pod.
Yeah, I think overall Cain looks better, but he’s gotta drop the federal sales tax idea until he calls for a repeal of the 16th Amendment.
If Perry hates to lose, why did he go to A&M?
I assume you are talking about the instate tuition policy so perhaps some perspective will help. A number of other states do the same. The reasoning is that those high school students were brought here by their parents and they have already been attending high school along with the other students. They are state residents attending school here already. They are not the same as someone from Connecticut who wants to go to a Texas college but has never paid Texas taxes. They are Texas residents, legal or not.
In 1988 Gore was into Global Warming and a liberal Democrat.
You are absolutely wrong! Gore was considered the most conservative Democrat in the race at the time and that was before the AGW campaign was even thought of. About 12 Texas Democrats were jointly considered Gore's campaign staff and Perry was selected to be front and center. Most conservatives in Texas at the time were life-long Democrats, as was Perry's family. Perry switched to the Republican Party in 1989.
But I guess his new Professional Political Hacks will be able to spin this for Perry!
I don't know what inspires your anti-Perry attitude but a little sunshine on your misconceptions may cool it somewhat. If you are interested in the truth it will. If you are not, then .... If you are a Democrat troll your statements are understandable. If not, then tell us who you support and why. Knocking down others in an effort to elevate yours is a liberal tactic and underserving of a conservative.
For the record, I have not decided. I have given small contributions to Perry, Cain, Gingrich, and Bachman. Yet, I can't let these false statements about any of them go unchallenged.
Yes, I am speaking to the instate tuition policy. I am against taxpayer's contribution anything more to support Illegals in this Country. I don't believe they should be given the status of “state residents” at best they are unwanted guests of the state. One of the best sources of expressing my views on instate tuition comes from Texas A&M:
Petition Governor Perry to Call Special Legislative Session to End In-State Tuition for Illegal Immigrants
The Honorable Rick Perry
Office of the Governor
P.O. Box 12428
Austin, TX 78711
Dear Governor Perry:
I am deeply disappointed that Texas tax dollars are being used to subsidize the college tuition of illegal immigrants in the state of Texas.
The Texas government, especially in these troubling economic times, should not be subsidizing the higher education of adults who cannot legally work in the United States. Governor Perry,
I request you to immediately call a special session of the Texas Legislature in order to end the policy of providing in-state tuition and financial aid for illegal aliens at Texas public universities.
Thousands of United States citizens are currently paying $20,000/year more than illegal immigrants to attend college in Texas; illegal immigrants are also receiving tuition waivers and state financial aid.
As a candidate running for the office of President of the United States of America, I ask you to put the interests of American citizens before the interests of citizens.

Secondly, Al Gore was a product of Political Marketing. He had to project elements of Conservative values simply because his political career was based on succeeding to win the votes his Father had garnered during Senior’s reign in Tennessee. During the 1988 Campaign Al Gore had to win the South and he allied himself with a cloak of Conservative Values. However, in 1992 we wrote the book Earth In Balance, which I believe demonstrates the depth of Al Gore's true commitment to fanning the flames of Global Warming. Al Gore came from a family of privilege. He had no idea what middle America or conservative values were all about. The Inconvenient Truth was that he was never a Centrist and after his failed attempts to become POTUS and the death of his political future in the United States, Al Gore dropped his political mask and revealed the true Leftist that he is today. I feel that Rick Perry comes from the same school as Al Gore. I am troubled by the man behind the mask. No one with kind of political savvy that Rick Perry has could not have know the true Al Gore.
Please spare me the guilt trip by inferring that I am “knocking down others in an effort to elevate yours”.
We all wish there were no illegal invaders here at all. Then we wouldn't have to deal with all the problems caused by them. However, they have been coming here for a long time. We are all aware of Reagan's attempt to deal with them almost thirty years ago and the problem had existed long before that. The answer lies with the federal government. The states shouldn't have to do the job of protecting our borders although it could be a cooperative effort. They are not coming here to get instate tuition at Texas universities.
Now that there are millions of them here what do we do about them? It is a complex question and when a reasonable approach is suggested many conservatives immediately scream Amnesty! and reject it outright. Even a guest worker program is decried. So, what to do?
I am deeply disappointed that Texas tax dollars are being used to subsidize the college tuition of illegal immigrants in the state of Texas.
Someone has to lead. Perry is doing that. As I said, instate tuition is given only to those who have been here and attending Texas high schools for at least three years. They have been here and they and their parents have been paying taxes in Texas for that time and usually longer. People from other states have not been doing that. Instate tuition is not cheap and they still have to qualify in all the ways any other applicant does. It is not a free scholarship for illegals, unless of course they are star athletes. To imply that that policy is costing Texas $300,000 a year, as many have, is a complete red herring. If they did not attend school at all would Texas get that money? Are you assuming that students from other states would come in such numbers as to make up the difference? It is BS used for political purposes. I would expect A&M conservatives to be smarter than that.
Wal*Mart owns Sam's Club, a wholesale club for members only. Wal*Mart sells at one price, Sam's at a lower price. When people become members of Sam's and buy there instead, does Wal*Mart lose money? No, they gain the amount spent at Sam's. The same is true of the State of Texas. The illegals who live here are simply made members of the instate club. The state loses no money and to say so is a misunderstanding of the facts.
Secondly, Al Gore was a product of Political Marketing. He had to project elements of Conservative values simply because his political career was based on succeeding to win the votes his Father had garnered during Seniors reign in Tennessee. During the 1988 Campaign Al Gore had to win the South and he allied himself with a cloak of Conservative Values.
Therefore he was perceived as a conservative. Most Texas Democrats thought he was conservative so Rick Perry was not purposely supporting a liberal environmentalist in 1988.
However, in 1992 he wrote the book Earth In Balance
1992 comes after 1988, right? Perry had been a Republican for three years in 1992.
I feel that Rick Perry comes from the same school as Al Gore. I am troubled by the man behind the mask. No one with kind of political savvy that Rick Perry has could not have know the true Al Gore.
What mask? Perry has been completely open about everything. You have reached a conclusion based on your desire to think that rather than being led there by logic and knowledge. Gore's Marxism was well hidden at that time and most Democrats in the South saw him as conservative.
Please spare me the guilt trip by inferring that I am knocking down others in an effort to elevate yours.
You are doing exactly that! The illegal immigration thing is a matter of misinformed opinion with just enough emotion attached to give it believability. There is no tax loss to Texas and illegals are not being given preferential treatment over others. They are illegal, period and that should trump all arguments, but it doesn't. Until we have a comprehensive policy for dealing with them things like this are necessary. Wouldn't you rather they be as educated as possible so that they can contribute more if they are going to be here? By the way, that law was passed by the Texas Legislature, with only 1 dissenting vote IIRC. Did you expect Perry to veto a bill like that? Are there any Aggies in the lege? Why are you blasting Perry when you should be condemning the whole state legislature?
Concerning Al Gore, he is worse than you describe. In the late 1800s, Vladimir Lenin sent Julius and Armand Hammer, Russian doctors, to the USA with a stash of cash to start a company and recruit allies to raise cash for the Communists in Russia. They raised substantial cash and recruited to their cause Arthur Sulzberger, publisher of the New York Times, and Senator Al Gore Sr. from Tennessee. The Gores were immediately moved from their small Tennessee farm to an entire floor of the Ritz Carlton Hotel in D.C. Al Gore, Jr. never really lived in Tennessee at all but instead lived a life of luxury in Washington.
Julius Hammer was imprisoned for botching an illegal abortion on the wife of the Russian Ambassador and Armand took the helm. Armand, best known for owning Occidental Petroleum, was Al Jr.'s mentor until he died in 1990.
When Gore was VP he maneuvered for the Elke Hills Naval Petroleum Reserve in California, being held for use by the Navy in wartime, to be sold to Occidental for a bargain price. He also managed to give Occidental the right to drill in Brazil, I think, for oil on lands owned by an Indian tribe. All this was happening while the Democrats, and Gore especially, were adamantly opposing oil drilling anywhere and especially in California and on Indian lands.
Al Gore has been a Communist operative in this country all his life. Occidental still pays him royalties to mine zinc on his Tennessee farm. I don't know if any mining goes on or not. I doubt it.
Perry might want to start practicing cause’ he’s going to lose this race for sure.
The policy is about minors. If Texas did not chose to treat those minors who are offspring of illegals and who graduated from Texas High Schools where they attended for at least three years the same as other kids who came to Texas from say Illinois and attended the same school for at least three years and graduated - then the State would be punishing the child for the illegal acts of his parents.
As for my view, I don't know how many States' political leaders even care what God has to say about such things...
We can agree to disagree at this point.
In November 2012 if Perry is the Candidate for POTUS I will vote him.
I would, however, have a very difficult time voting for Mitt Romney.
Cheers!
I don't want to agree to disagree! I am right and you are wrong! I want you on your knees admitting defeat and begging for mercy!
:-) Cheers!
LOL - Kadafi style or can I watch TV in my ski cap and wait for Rin-Tin-Tin and the boys from Special Forces?
Right now I hear BOR yelling two rooms away and still moping about the CARDS losing last night to TEXAS.
