Greetings Falcon28:

Can not understand why volunteer firefighters would oppose SB5. Over the last 25 years, FF unions have lobbied hard, at state and national levels, to put volunteers out of business.

Yet volunteer FF’s, even the FPDs post silly “No on Issue 2” icons on FB pages. Does anyone even consider how naive “No on Issue 2” support might affect our next fire district levy?

Cheers,
OLA

Lots of otherwise conservative people are no votes on this.

There are a few parts of SB5 that are probably a bit of an overreach, and this seems to be part of the problem.

The other part is lack of good marketing on the Yes vote side of the issue, and, I hate to admit, Kasich’s ego.

Issue 2 on Ohio’s November 8 ballot poses a simple question to voters: Should SB5, Ohio’s government reform effort to get control back from union bosses, be allowed to go into effect?

Michelle Malkin is wrong on an important point. Her question is: "should SB5...be allowed to go into effect?"

The answer most conservatives would want to hear is "NO."

However the actual ballot will ask:

Shall the law (SB5) be approved?
___Yes(To approve the law)
___No(To reject the law)

The correct answer is YES. We want Kasich's law approved.

So, while Malkin is probably using journalist license in explaining the situation, she is setting up people to think in terms of answering "no". The right answer on the ballot will be "yes".

I’m discouraged since I’ve been talking to people who tell me they are voting NO but they give their reasoning as the reasons for YES. In other words: they are confused! Another thing to think about: The reason you see the NO signs and no YES signs is do you want the police and fire to see a YES sign in your yard? I don’t.

“...do you want the police and fire to see a YES sign in your yard? I don’t.”

Where is the fire to right wrongs? Where are the descendants of the colonial Americans who risked their lives, fortunes and families to win the Revolutionary War?

“Post 19 is confusing.”

Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner, RicocheT.

I guess FReeper LS sums my feelings about unions in post #13.

“Sick of all unions. Hate ‘em. Worst thing that ever happened to American business.”

I’m sick of all forms of socialism/socialists. It is what is killing this country.

Frederic Bastiat identified it brilliantly many years ago...here...

I think there will (fortunately) be a LOT of confusion and that our side will benefit from the way the thing is worded. To repeal (”I want to repeal this bill”) you have to vote “No” (i.e., “I don’t want to repeal this bill?”).
