Although interviewee Harry Connick Jr. was unwilling to cast blame towards any specific person or agenda over the failed response to the Hurricane Katrina in 2005, CNN's Piers Morgan thrice tried to bait him into doing so on Monday.
Connick stated on Piers Morgan Tonight that "at this point, what good is it going to do to blame local or state or federal government?" Yet Morgan emphasized the "scandalously slow" response to the disaster by authorities, and even noted liberal conspiracy claims that "surreptitious racism" was involved.

There was no “scandalously slow response”. It is another media myth that Republicans allow to stand.

If the damn feds had been doing their jobs, Morgan would have been deported a long time ago. He’s one sick bass turd.
“There was no scandalously slow response.”
The malfeasance of the governor and of Mayor Nagin was scandalous. The governor dithered, instead of rendering a decision that only she could give that would release to President Bush operational command of the Louisiana Nat’l Guard, while the mayor of New Orleans failed to execute the city’s disaster relief plan.
Fortunately, Pres. Bush was available to absorb all the blame.
When President Bush was going around giving the first interviews following the writing of his book, he agreed to be on the Oprah Winfrey show.
I watched her pre-show coverage and the interview itself. Not because I like Winfrey, but because I wanted to hear President Bush’s point of view.
In the pre-show segment Winfrey and her staff were talking about Katrina. One of the staff mentioned something about the reaction of the people in New Orleans, how they felt and their resentment over the federal response. The staff member didn’t understand it.
Winfrey’s answer was that it would be difficult to understand unless you could understand what it felt like to be disenfranchised by the system.
The staff member didn’t say much after that. It was like Winfrey had spoken as if she was an oracle on high. No one dared confront her.
And then I watched the Bush interview. Bush told Oprah that if the federal government had stepped in without the governor’s specifically asking it to, it would have been a Constitutional crisis. He didn’t have that authority.
It was an on-air “lightbulb moment” for Winfrey. She didn’t know that!
She looked like a stupid, arrogant woman.
She spends all of her time granting her wisdom to the masses. She believes her greatest role is that of teacher to others. And yet, she didn’t understand about the separate powers that the states and the federal government have.
I wanted to curse at the television screen.
She influences people in this country. They follow her like lemmings over the cliff. She single-handedly made Obama more attractive to the people in this country that hang on her every word. And Obama used Katrina as a way to draw anger towards the Bush presidency. It helped to get him elected.
She truly is a stupid, evil person. I loathe her with a passion.
I was in Hurricane Katrina (in Biloxi, where it actually happened, not NOLA) and the response from the federal, state and local governments was all that could be expected and more! The whole coast was demolished! The charity people were there quickly, also.
I was looking at google satellite over Long Beach, MS the other day. There’s one subdivision that got flattened and only a few houses rebuilt. Can’t imagine the day after.
Problem seems to be with young people, also getting on the show, is that they attain high degree qualifications and then cannot get commensurate employment.
Piers and Michael do not really seem to have a clue- except to blame, blame and blame again. Few persons seem to be able to define the exact reasons for the malais of our society, let alone tell it like it is.
History shows a rise and fall in prosperity at various times. It is a distressing time and I pray to see it end.
Indeed.
The fault for the damage done lays squarely at the feet of the N.O. mayor and the LA governor.
Protocol demands that they REQUEST assistance from the federal government.
The Bush administration proactively suggested and advised to the two losers that they request assistance BEFORE the hurricane hit so that the feds could be prepared to respond.
The two losers did not. I am certain they did not request assistance for political reasons...wanting to make the Bush administration look at-fault.
You see, the Bush administration was trying to follow the law and protocol, unlike Obammie the Commie who proudly proclaims, “We ain’t gunna wait for congress,” which the US Constitution requires him to do.
“The malfeasance of the governor and of Mayor Nagin was scandalous. The governor dithered, instead of rendering a decision that only she could give that would release to President Bush operational command of the Louisiana Natl Guard, while the mayor of New Orleans failed to execute the citys disaster relief plan.”
The problem is that over this side of the pond none of us new that. The Media was having a field day. Only when I read it on FR did the penny drop.
Unfortunately Piers Morgan is known for opening his mouth before engaging his brain!
We do not want him back, consider him a free gift.
Regards.
Blanco was getting her marching orders from DNC Headquarters.
Peirce Morgan hacked phones.
And he killed Caylee Anthony.
I don’t think Blanco was nearly as partisan as the Landrieus are. But the LA Democrats are on hard times with only the Landrieus and one member of the U.S. House in their corner.
