Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign rolled out a fresh attack Thursday against Texas Gov. Rick Perry, saying that Mr. Perry’s new plan to reshape Social Security doesn’t square with his previously stated stances on the issue.
The campaign shot out an email blast contrasting Mr. Perry’s five-point Social Security plan — which calls for preserving the benefits for current and near-term beneficiaries and allows younger workers to invest in personal savings accounts — against statements cherry-picked from in his book, “Fed Up!,” in which he wrote that the program has been something Americans have been forced to accept for 70 years “at the expense of respect for the Constitution and limited government.”
...This week the Perry campaign described Mr. Romney as a “finger-in-the-wind” politician after he seemed to suggest he wouldn’t take a stand on Ohio’s 6-month-old law curbing the power of public-sector unions, which polls show is heading toward defeat in a November referendum.
Mr. Romney clarified his stance on the issue Wednesday during a campaign stop in voter-rich Northern Virginia, where he said he “fully supports” Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s effort.
...“How do you change at the age of 50 or 60, positions on life, positions on guns, positions on traditional marriage?” Mr. Perry said. “I mean, those aren’t minor issues, Bill. So to change those at age of 50 or 60 tells you all you need to know about that.”

Now don't you all get excited...he ain't gonna shoot him....just make him take the card from his sleeve.

Romney knows Perry is going to land like a ton of bricks on his head.

First thought on seeing this: WHY is Romney attacking Perry at all? I thought Perry was done-for. Apparently Romney doesn’t think so.
I don’t listen to Romney if it can be avoided, so this is a question on the facts: does Romney attack Cain for 9-9-9 with similar gusto? (Insofar as anything Romney EVER said, had gusto.)
Very tentative conclusions: Romney has something like a worm’s primitive nervous system, he’s responsive not to ideas but to cash force behind them. Romney is saving Cain for dessert, or using him like a petri dish to observe what develops from Cain’s campaign stands. If it doesn’t get too fuzzy, he’ll have a popular, near-bulletproof running mate.
But Perry — Romney takes him as a serious threat. Fire as soon as he sees those eye whites. Tells you what the RINO overlords of the GOP think: Perry serious, Cain not so much.

I love governor Kasich, but he let politicians over-reach on SB5. They should have gone strictly after pay and pension reform, but instead he was talked into getting into the weeds about changing operational procedures all the way down to county and municipal level.
That’s where SB5 shoots itself in the foot.
Those things should have been left for a different bill after the pay/pension thing was straightened out.
Romney’s hesitation to endorse SB5, though, is an absolutely PURE sign that he fully intends to run a Center/Left campaign and write OFF conservatives.
As if we needed proof, but now we now have it.

I don’t think anyone has come out strong enough against romney and romneycare. The candidates must attack romneycare over and over again from every possible angle.
1. Exchange subsidies increase middle class dependency and discourage upward mobility
2. ER vists are increased by 7%
3. Increase wait time to see providers
4. Doctors leaving the state
5. Highest insurance costs in the nation
6. Gaming of the system whereby people enter and exit the insurance market to avoid paying insurance.
7. The mandate and most features of romneycare have been used as the template for obamacare. Even romney’s romneycare advisors have been recycled for obamacare.
These facts and others need to be hammered into the GOP voters heads over and over. romney still defends romneycare and that is simply inexcusable. Most people will rightly judge people first by their deeds over their words. Only when this sinks in, will romney be rejected.
Because Romney is and always will be "an off key kind of guy". He doesn't quite get the rhythm of American politics. He plays the notes but has little feel for how sounds. Sadly, he'll never know the feeling of "rocking the house".
So Perry believed, and I would assume still does believe, that forcing Social Security payments from those who will never get any return is a Ponzi scheme and is wrong, so Perry proposes an option to protect those elderly citizens who have no other option at this point and still need the retirement income while freeing the younger citizens from the unconstitutional federal force to “purchase” something.
And where, do tell, is Mitt Romney having a problem with this?
That Perry can take away his long fought for goal of being a U.S. president.
