No I posted that before I started reading your reference. I did go there and gave up just now after 150 posts.
Obviously there is a difference between natural born citizen and citizen because the Constitution spells out the qualifications of President and Senator. Senators need not be natural-born and Presidents need to be. That is where the confusion comes in because the writer did not define NBC. Sure we can assume a meaning based upon the writing of a guy named Vattel but we cant make that assumption with certainty. I do agree however that the SCOTUS decision in Minor v Happersett defined NBC so that should settle it.
So why is Obama President and why was nothing done about it? After mulling this over for a bit (actually as I write this) I now take the birther stand but that places me in the minority and I dont like being there. What to do?
“Senators need not be natural-born and Presidents need to be. That is where the confusion comes in”
No, the confusion is between the common sense meaning of NBC and the fictitious category of “native born but not natural born” invented because people don’t like Obama and wish he weren’t president. The distinction between senatorial and presidential eligibility isn’t any deeper than that naturalized citizens can be senators but not president.
Read the post that the link takes you to directly. It is a book from the Boston public library belonging to John Adams and passed down to his son. The clear definition of natural born Citizen is in that book. References to Vattel as well.
based upon the writing of a guy named Vattel
Speaking of Vattel Vattel's Law of Nation is the textbook for National Law; William and Mary College 1830
Speaking of William and Mary College
This is a short list of some of the students who attended.
The College has been called the Alma Mater of a Nation because of its close ties to Americas founding fathers. A 17-year-old George Washington received his surveyor's license through the College and would return as its first American chancellor. Thomas Jefferson received his undergraduate education here, as did presidents John Tyler and James Monroe.
So you see my FRiend when we say that the term natural born Citizen was common knowledge we have some facts to back it up. In 1875, Minor v Happersett, it was still clear as to what that meaning was but this was the first time it would be applied to a woman for the purposes of voting.
Welcome to the so-called “fringe”.
“What to do?”
Educate those you come into contact with, whether online or in the real world, at every reasonable opportunity with reason and in reasonable tones what the holding in Minor vs Happersett means regarding Natural Born Citizen status and its bearing on presidential eligibility. I wouldn’t know about the torches and pitchforks angle, but if enough of the citizenry can be made aware of the fraud that has been perpetrated, perhaps a critical mass of public interest could force the issue in the media, those organs’ reluctance notwithstanding. At the least, a larger public knowing what has been done to them and our founding document can sweep all these self-serving dirtbags in DC into the unemployment lines and start over with a whole batch of new monkeys, and keep doing that until we get a set of monkeys that understand that they are our employees and are bound to uphold the country’s charter.
A Natural Born Citizen is one who cannot be any other kind of citizen, due to their birth to parents who are themselves both citizens.
