Rick Perry may skip some debates

After a series of poor debate performances in the early months of his presidential campaign, Texas Gov. Rick Perry is backing off the upcoming GOP debate schedule, committing to just one of the next three events between now and Nov. 15.
Perry has struggled in the five debates he has attended since he joined the race in mid-August. At one, he fumbled an attempt to cast rival Mitt Romney as a flip-flopper. At another, bickering between Romney and Perry drew criticism that the candidates were acting juvenile.
Perry hinted at his frustration with the debates earlier this week when he told Fox News that participating in them was a mistake.
These debates are set up for nothing more than to tear down the candidates, Perry said.
All theyre interested in is stirring it up between the candidates.

It would be far better for Perry to attend the debates and keep a low profile than for him to skip even one, just because he doesn’t do well in them.
This will make Perry look extremely weak.... and like a chicken.

"Moderated" by left-leaning media personalities whose mission is to bloody ALL of the Republican candidates in order to soften them up for the general election against Obama. I'm agnostic about Perry, but these "debates" are being used as weapons by the mainstream media against these candidates.
Perry was given the chance to debate Romney one-on-one in a Lincoln-Douglas style debate without moderators. So far the two of them have refused. Cain and Gingrich were offered the same opportunity to debate each other without moderators, and accepted.
This was in Texas, Perry's home turf. He has options, he just chooses not to accept them.
But let's face it, he shoots himself in the foot even without the help of the debates.

Chicken? Take it back!

It worked in Texas last year against a Clinton insider in the general election.
Perry's problem is that this is not the general election, and if he can't handle himself with fellow Republicans, he won't be able to handle Nobamma.

We're on the same page - Perry is looking like the 2012 version of Giuliani and Thompson from 2008. I just think these debates are being conducted in a way that is meant to wound candidates in order to help Obama. I'm not a Gingrich fan, but he's the only one willing to call the media out on what they are doing.

Rick Perry may skip some debatesThey all should skip the so-called "debates". They are rediculous BS designed mainly to provide TV advertising revenue to the cable news stations. The venue merely makes all the candidates appear to be bickering old ladies who have fallen into the "cooking sherry".

You’re absolutely correct. The first one Perry attended...it was like no one else was there...they were just hammering him...Bas*****.

Perry is absolutely correct. He should stonewall the MSM as much as possible at least for the next couple of months.

Except Sarah Palin took it head on 100 times worse than Rick.
Seems politics is a contact sport and Rick wants to just be a cheerleader.

When he first announced, I looked forward to Perry’s candidacy - ( until I read more and listened to Herman Cain).
With all his ‘political savvy’ I have to wonder why Perry didn’t wait until December to declare. He could have studied Romney, Cain, Gingrich et.al and planned a strategy for later debates.
Shoulda coulda woulda.

Actually, he wants to be quarterback, but carried on his teammates’ shoulder ONTO the field.
