In personal business I like to keep things at 7 -10% profit for the fellow doing the work.

I think that’s fair and it’s simple.

The majority of his followers would stay with him even if he kills someone tomorrow. It is not about what he does or what he did it is about the red meat rhetoric that they need like drug addicts and he is giving them plenty of it.

Herman said that 10% was enough for God so 9% should be good enough for us.

Problem is, that Herman adds 2 more 9’s

and then fudges the numbers for empowerment zones.

333? 909?

I fail to see how 9% additional sale tax will spur economic consumption.

Sure I understand the argument that manufacturers will pay less for raw goods (If they but American) and that will lead to lower retail prices, but it all sounds like pie in the sky wishful thinking to me.

I agree with you on the non-necessity of saying anything about it.

Cain is too used to speaking freely to people.

That doesn’t work in this environment.

I don’t think it’s obvious at all that it requires a 24/7 schedule, for a year or more, to run for President.

Remember when everyone criticized Gingrich and his wife for going on a planned cruise for two weeks instead of campaigning full-time?

That seems to have blown over, eh.

Just like there are people who work huge numbers of hours and never accomplish anything, what I think is obvious is that the smart worker figures out what it takes to get the job done in an excellent way and doesn’t waste resources doing things that are not necessary to that goal.

That’s all I’m saying: people seem to be assuming what “dial back” means and I gave an example meant to be a little thought-provoking on the point that it’s not the numbers of hours someone spends at the office, its what he actually accomplishes when all is said and done.

We already know that the msm is going to be vicious, there is no good point in feeding The soundbite machine

Cain realizes he has been shooting from the lip.

Also: my question was is working 60 hours a week rather than 90 hours “hiding,” as some here were saying?

It just seems obvious that it’s not appropriate to assume that “dialing back” one’s schedule automatically means that a person is going to do NOTHING (i.e., “hide”).

If I said he has actually “declined,” then I misspoke. Sorry. He has said he is thinking about not doing any more debates.

Rush discussed this extensively on his show last week (actually saying he was okay with Perry cutting his losses, taking whatever criticism comes from withdrawing, and trying to get into situations where he could effectively get his message out).

Cainiacs have been the most obnoxious SOBS on this forum for quite some time.

Exactly and sadly right. You can expose Romney people using Cain as a surrogate with Sarah as their pedestal candidate.

Most Perry supporters would be thrilled to vote for Cain vs. Zero if that’s the ballot next Nov.

Most Cain (cloaked Romney) supporters would happily give zero four more years rather than support Perry.

IMHO opinion, Perry is thinking of passing some debates, as it is a weak point for him and takes away from campaigning. Cain is thinking of passing campaign appearances because its draining his money.
Beyond that, Mr Cain realizes he is one step away from major scrutiny if he keeps providing sound bytes.

Believe me, the opponents have a ton of unabashed sound bytes.

Of course Herman's answer to these sort of criticisms is usually something like "I'm done with that!"

Cain had almost no name recognition when he entered the race.

Of course, he had to run like crazy, do every interview he was offered, make every speech he was asked to make and so on.

Now he is topping most polls, his favorability rating is sky-high and his name recognition equals or surpasses that of Mittens.

He’s accomplished Phase I. I see no downside to now being more selective about what he does. And the fact it, it doesn’t matter if he does fewer events: he has engendered so much interest, that one speech he gives may end up being watched literally by millions on the internet -— a far bigger and more important audience that 100 rubber chicken dinner fundraisers.

As for his money situation, he’s raised more in the last month than he has throughout his whole campaign. Another function of having achieved (through his frenetic pace and hard work) name recognition and high favorability ratings. With the money coming in now, that also allows him to be more selective about how many events he schedules.

I have no problem with Perry withdrawing the debates if he wants to. He’ll have to deal with the criticism, but it’s not insurmountable. The only thing is he will have to find a way to show people that he can get his message out in a different setting/format.

You have a hell of a battle on your hands. Perry taking a break vs a Cain-Gingrich debate. Prepare for the worst.

Mr Cain is dynamic. I admire his everyman persona.
We we see how he manages the long slog.

Records versus bluster.
But I take nothing for granted.
