It is a money making scheme. Basically it is just another version of an ambulance chasing lawyer looking for people or entities to sue. It searches for possible copyright infringements posted on the web. Buys the rights from the newspapers, then sues. Until recently, Righthaven was very successful until some of the courts decided that Righthaven did not have legal standing because the newspapers still had control of the materials even after they sold the copyrights.

It seems that Righthaven exercises about as much diligence in it’s business affairs as the AP does in its reporting...
