Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace publicly called out Mitt Romney this morning for avoiding press scrutiny.
At the end of a 26-minute interview with Texas Gov. Rick Perry in Austin, Wallace noted that he has now interviewed all the major candidates as part of his 2012 one-on-one series, except the frontrunner.
----
He has not appeared on this program or any Sunday talk show since March of 2010, Wallace said. We invited Gov. Romney again this week, but his campaign says hes still not ready to sit down for an interview.
Because of the influence Fox wields among Republican primary voters, Wallace's complaint carries more weight than the typical media moaning about lack of access to presidential candidates. Romney has appeared on Fox far less than most of his opponents: According to Media Matters, he has logged about the same amount of time on Fox since June as Tim Pawlenty, who dropped out of the race two and a half months ago. Will Wallace's comment be an isolated shot at Romney or the start of a larger Fox effort to get him to play ball?
UPDATE: And here's the video ...
There was a televised interview of Romney circa 2007? or so where he says, I don’t know why anyone would want to be President of the US,.
I wish his opponents would find that clip and play it all over town.
Yet he is in a tie for the lead. Maybe a message here for the self-important media prima donnas who think they are so indispensable to the "democratic" process.
That’s part of his game plan. Avoid any and all potential one-on-one interviews with the media in order to dodge the obvious questions on his flip-flopping history.
He needs to get that out front now. His competition is certainly going to. Even Huntsman has a great anti-Romney ad on You-Tube. Is devastating using Mitt’s own words in news clips.
Mitt is just hoping to run out the clock.

Mitting in Action?
I'm not a Mitt-bot but I think he's doing himself no harm by not appearing on these shows.
The hosts don't give a flying fig what the candidates have to say. They're just looking for the "gotcha" moment so they can insert themselves into the story and be the toast of the town at the next cocktail party.
I wish all the Republican candidates would refuse to go on those shows.
But that's just me.
In 2008, Wallace used a similar weekly admonition of Obama for his failure to show up on FNS.
Obama finally capitulated and showed up on FNS. Obama had, however, been on many of the other [non-Fox] news talk programs.
Gee Chris, if you want him that badly, just call Hannity for his number. Apparantly, Sean is the only show Romney ever goes on.
...and yet I keep hearing Fox is in the tank for Mitt.
Well, I wouldn’t vote for Mitt, anyway, but not pandering to biased media, subjecting oneself to trickery and deceit seems smart to me. Makes me wonder why Perry is making himself available to the Sunday media. They won’t be kind to any GOP candidate.
I won't be voting for Huntsman, but it is a good ad.
See the ad here for those who haven't seen it yet: Backflips
you are right. that is a good ad. thanks.
